LINKED PEACE CONDITIONS TO THE US
The Russian leader linked the conditions for peace with Ukraine to the US, stating, "It is impossible to resolve the Ukraine crisis without increasing trust between Russia and the US." Putin mentioned that a friendly atmosphere prevailed during the talks, saying, "Russia and the US agreed on the resumption of diplomatic missions."
"I WOULD MEET WITH TRUMP WITH PLEASURE"
Regarding the possibility of meeting with US President Donald Trump, Putin stated, "I would meet with pleasure, but certain preparations need to be made for that."
'UKRAINE WILL ALSO BE AT THE TABLE'
Putin stated that Russia is ready to return to the negotiating table, expressing that Ukraine will also be present at the table. The Russian leader said, "Russia has never shied away from negotiations."
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
The US and Russian delegations met in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, for a total of 4.5 hours to discuss bilateral relations and the war in Ukraine. The Russian delegation included Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Kremlin Foreign Policy Advisor Yuriy Ushakov, and the Head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev; while the US delegation included US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff.
