WhatsApp is preparing to expand its disappearing messages feature to allow users to manage the content shared in chats more effectively. With the new setting in the testing phase, it is planned to add shorter automatic deletion options, such as 1 hour and 12 hours, especially for temporary shares.
WhatsApp is preparing to add a new feature focused on privacy. According to the new setting that emerged in the app's test version, users will be able to choose to have messages automatically deleted within 1 hour.
1 AND 12 HOUR OPTIONS ON THE AGENDA
The new options are located in the "Default message duration" section. In addition to the existing 90 days, 7 days, and 24 hours options, shorter durations such as 1 hour and 12 hours are also made available to users. When the setting is activated, the feature will only apply to newly initiated individual chats; previous conversations will not be affected by this change.
NO OFFICIAL STATEMENT
There has not yet been an official statement regarding when the feature will be made available to all users. With this innovation in the testing phase, it is aimed to prevent messages from remaining in the chat history for an unnecessarily long time.
