As the number of people who have lost their lives in the protests that have been ongoing in Iran for 11 days rises to 38, a new statement has come from the United States regarding the demonstrations. A White House official speaking to Iran International stated that if Iran kills peaceful protesters using violence, the U.S. will respond with force.
Protests that began due to economic issues in Iran continue on their 11th day. According to information reported by the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the number of people who lost their lives during the demonstrations has risen to 38.
MORE THAN 2,000 DETENTIONS
The statement noted that the protests took place in all 31 provinces and that 34 protesters and four security personnel lost their lives. Demonstrations occurred in 348 different locations, dozens were injured, and 2,217 people were detained.
According to the report, the vast majority of injuries were caused by rubber and plastic bullets. Authorities have not yet made a statement regarding the deceased or injured.
NEW STATEMENT FROM THE WHITE HOUSE
Meanwhile, a White House official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated that the recent military operations are evidence of the Trump administration's determination, saying that if Iran kills peaceful protesters using violence, the USA will respond with force.
The official, speaking to Iran International, said, "The President has made it clear: If Iran opens fire on peaceful protesters as is its habit and kills them using violence, they will face severe consequences." The official added, "The President has proven his word with the Midnight Hammer Operation and the Absolute Resolve Operation."
PROTESTS IN IRAN
Protests that began on December 28, 2025, due to the significant devaluation of the local currency against foreign exchange rates and economic issues, spread to many cities in the country, starting from the Tehran Grand Bazaar. The Tasnim News Agency reported that the number of injured police officers during the protests rose to 568 and the number of militia forces (Basij) to 66.
US President Donald Trump, in his statements regarding the protests in Iran, said that if protesters are killed, the USA will come to their aid and deliver a severe blow to the Tehran administration. In a statement made by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on January 5, it was announced that there would be no tolerance for the demonstrators.
