Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has given a date for the Ankara-Istanbul High-Speed Train Project. The project, which will be completed in 2034, will allow travel from Ankara to Istanbul in 80 minutes.

The Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, announced that the Ankara-Izmir High-Speed Train Project will be completed in 2027, and the Ankara-Istanbul Super High-Speed Train Project will be completed around 2034. Uraloğlu indicated that the Ankara-Izmir high-speed train line will be approximately 508 kilometers long, and stated that they will not stop in this project and that the project is valuable to them. Uraloğlu said, "We can easily say that Ankara-Izmir is part of the Middle Corridor that comes from China in terms of national and international transportation. Hopefully, we will have completed Izmir in early 2027. It will be possible to travel safely in about 3.5 hours. This is our goal."

NEW ROAD AND HIGH-SPEED TRAIN LINE

Uraloğlu mentioned the ongoing projects and said, "The Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep high-speed train project is ongoing. It is around 312 kilometers. The Halkalı-Çerkezköy-Kapıkule Line is also ongoing as a high-speed train project. You asked about Ankara-Istanbul. Hopefully, it will be a bit faster. What is the need between Ankara and Istanbul? We are talking about the travel needs of approximately 30 million people living in the region. We predict that the capacities of both the railway and the highway will not be sufficient in the next 10 years. Therefore, we want to build both a new highway and a new high-speed train line between Ankara and Istanbul."

"WE WILL TRAVEL IN 80 MINUTES"

Uraloğlu provided information about the Ankara-Istanbul Super High-Speed Train Project and said, "We have started the works of the super high-speed train project that will travel at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour from Ankara to Istanbul. When we implement it, we will be able to travel from Ankara to Istanbul in 80 minutes, God willing."

When asked about the completion date of the project, Uraloğlu said, "We are result-oriented. The shaping of the project takes about 2-3 years from any perspective. Let's assume that we will start construction in 2-3 years. That will take about 6-7 years. We will implement the Ankara-Istanbul Super High-Speed Train around the 2034s. It will truly be feasible by that time. We should not miss this."
