The fight against forest fires in İzmir continues uninterrupted. Fires in the forested areas of the districts of Buca, Ödemiş, and Çeşme are being tackled from both the air and the ground. Footage from Ödemiş shows citizens trying to evacuate the district engulfed in flames while also attempting to move their animals away from the area.

BUCA
The fire that broke out yesterday around 16:00 near Zafer Neighborhood in the Buca district of İzmir has spread to the Kısık Neighborhood of Gaziemir district and continues to be fought from the ground throughout the night. The smoke has enveloped the sky in the area, and it has been reported that the flames are approaching residential areas.
Meanwhile, firefighters battling the flames, along with teams from the İzmir Forest Regional Directorate and 112 Emergency Call Center, rested by the roadside and in their vehicles. Air interventions, which were paused as night fell, resumed early in the morning.
ÖDEMİŞ
Efforts to combat the fire that broke out in the forested area of Ödemiş district in İzmir are being conducted from the air and the ground. Efforts to control the fire, which started in the Tosunlar Neighborhood near Manastır and spread to residential areas, are ongoing. In images from Ödemiş, it was seen that citizens were trying to evacuate their animals from the area while leaving the district engulfed in flames.
Ground teams continued their work uninterrupted throughout the night. With the dawn, air units also began to support the fight against the flames. The fire broke out in the forested area of Tosunlar Neighborhood around 21:00 on July 2, and teams from the İzmir Forest Regional Directorate and firefighters were dispatched to the area upon notification.
Due to the fire spreading with the wind, the neighborhoods of Suçıktı, Tosunlar, Üzümlü, Ortaköy, and Karadoğan were evacuated as a precaution, and the fire caused damage to houses and barns in these neighborhoods.
In the evening hours, the flames began to threaten the Yeniköy Neighborhood, and due to the fire, Ibrahim Erkan (81), who lived alone in a house in Suçıktı Neighborhood, lost his life.
ÇEŞME
Another location where the fight against the flames continues is the Çeşme district. Efforts to extinguish the fire, which has been reduced in intensity, are ongoing. The fire started yesterday in the agricultural area of Ildır Neighborhood and spread to the forest. Three neighborhoods were evacuated due to the fire.
