A cooperation protocol has been signed between İŞKUR and the Andalusian Federation of Enterprises and Self-Employed Workers to meet the increasing demand for heavy vehicle drivers in Spain. With this protocol, over 200,000 drivers who gain access to job opportunities in Spain will be able to earn an annual income of 35,000 Euros (approximately 1 million 750 thousand Turkish Lira).

To meet the demand for heavy vehicle drivers in Spain, a collaboration was established between the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) and the Andalusian Union of Enterprises and Self-Employed Workers (USINTRA).

PROTOCOL BETWEEN TURKEY AND SPAIN

According to information obtained from İŞKUR, during the visit of the Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan to Spain last year, evaluations were made regarding the possibility of cooperation in the field of employment at the request of the Spanish Ministry of Labor. In this context, a cooperation protocol was prepared between İŞKUR and the public professional organization USINTRA to address the increasing demand for heavy vehicle drivers in Spain. The protocol was signed by İŞKUR General Director Samet Güneş and USINTRA General Director Rafael Perales Romero at a ceremony held at İŞKUR a few days ago.

CANDIDATES WITH REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS WILL BE EMPLOYED

The protocol aims to develop employment opportunities for heavy vehicle drivers in Turkey and to fill the labor gap in Spain's logistics and transportation sector. Candidates in İŞKUR's job seeker pool who possess the necessary qualifications will be able to be employed in companies in Spain with the guidance of USINTRA.

"WE AIMED TO PROVIDE WORK OPPORTUNITIES IN SPAIN FOR OVER 200 THOUSAND PEOPLE"

Özkan Bolat, Head of İŞKUR Employment Services Department, stated that this initiative was launched upon Spain's notification of its need for heavy vehicle drivers. Bolat said, "In our review of İŞKUR's Candidate Pool, we assessed that we could cooperate to meet Spain's demand for heavy vehicle drivers. We aimed to provide a new opportunity for over 200 thousand individuals with the necessary qualifications in our candidate pool to work in Spain." he stated.

ANNUAL INCOME OF 35 THOUSAND EUROS

Bolat indicated that job postings would be opened in the coming days and that applications would be received through the İŞKUR website. He expressed that initially, only those who obtained their heavy vehicle driver’s license before 2009 would be able to apply, stating that drivers could earn an annual income of 25-35 thousand Euros (approximately 1 million 750 thousand lira).

Bolat noted that candidates would receive a one-month online language course and a one-week vocational training in Spain provided by USINTRA, stating that the expenses of the candidates during the course would be covered by USINTRA.

"WE EXPECT IT TO BE POPULAR"

Bolat mentioned that it is planned to send 40-80 drivers to Spain weekly, stating, "Our job postings related to overseas employment are generally very popular among our job seekers. It is difficult to specify a number at this moment, but we believe that these postings will also attract interest." he said.

Bolat also warned against fraudulent activities related to employment announcements, stating: "Our advice to job seekers is to pay attention only to İŞKUR's website and the websites of private employment agencies authorized by İŞKUR regarding job placement or overseas employment, and to never pay any money to any source, as all services provided by İŞKUR are free."
