Starting with a birthday message, the process escalated to a person's death, a teacher couple's decision to divorce, and Öncü's resignation from his post.
"YOU ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL" MESSAGE TRIGGERED THE INCIDENTS
Bolu Provincial Director of National Education Fatih Öncü saw the birthday photo shared on the WhatsApp status of kindergarten principal B.Ö.A. on January 16, 2026. It was alleged that Öncü congratulated B.Ö.A. on her birthday after seeing the photo and sent the message "You are very beautiful."
"DO YOU WANT TO SEE ME?"
B.Ö.A.'s teacher husband B.A. also saw the message. B.A., who works as an information technologies teacher at another institution, reacted to the message. B.A. asked his wife to video call Öncü. After the video call request, Öncü's message "Do you want to see me?" further strained nerves. The tension that began between the couple and Öncü quickly escalated.
WENT TO ÖNCÜ'S OFFICE WITH HIS WIFE
B.A. first met with Fatih Öncü at a café to discuss the messages. Then, on January 19, he went to Öncü's office. In the afternoon of the same day, he had another meeting at the office together with his wife B.Ö.A.
THREW THE CHAIR AGAINST THE WALL
It was stated that B.A. wanted to learn what had happened between his wife and Öncü. Tensions rose during the meeting. According to allegations, B.A. threw the chair in the office against the wall. After the incident, the parties went to the police station and filed complaints against each other.
KINDERGARTEN PRINCIPAL DID NOT FILE A COMPLAINT
Kindergarten principal B.Ö.A. stated in her statement to the police that she did not file a complaint against anyone regarding the incident. She said there were no other messages or call records on her phone besides the screenshot handed over to the police. In his statement, Fatih Öncü expressed his belief that B.A. harbored negative feelings toward him due to a previous administrative investigation he had undergone.
HIS FATHER DIED IN FRONT OF THE POLICE STATION
According to a report by Ümit Karadağ from Sözcü, the tension between the couple continued afterward. B.A. went to the kindergarten where his wife worked. An argument also occurred there. B.A. then returned home. Following his wife's complaint, police arrived at the building where B.A. was. B.A. got into the police vehicle to give a statement. Meanwhile, his father, who witnessed the incident, went to the police station to not leave his son alone. The father suffered a heart attack and died while waiting for his son in front of the police station near the Produce Market.
DIVORCE CASE FILED
After the events, it was learned that kindergarten principal B.Ö.A. requested a transfer to Eskişehir. It was stated that the teacher couple decided to separate and filed for divorce.
ÖNCÜ RESIGNED FROM HIS POST
After the incident came to public attention, the Ministry of National Education launched an administrative investigation into the process. Fatih Öncü also announced via a statement on his social media account that he had resigned from his position as the Bolu Provincial Director of National Education. Öncü stated that he left his position upon his own request to ensure the investigation process was carried out healthily and that he requested an assignment within the Central Organization of the Ministry of National Education.
