In the natural gas exploration activities carried out in Tekirdağ and Silivri, a natural gas reserve of 300 million cubic meters with an economic value of 3 billion TL has been reached in 4 new wells. The extracted natural gas will be distributed to industrial facilities within 2 weeks.
Trakya Basin Natural Gas Company (TBNG), one of Turkey's natural gas production companies, has started extracting gas from new wells opened in Silivri and Tekirdağ within the framework of the 2024 New Drilling Program prepared with the support of the Presidency Investment Office. With an investment of 10 million dollars, 300 million cubic meters of natural gas reserves with an economic value of 3 billion TL have been reached in 4 new wells. After the first ignition in Silivri and then in Tekirdağ, the existing reserve became ready for distribution. TBNG, which has a daily natural gas extraction capacity of 250 thousand cubic meters from a total of 85 wells in Tekirdağ and Silivri, aims to increase daily production by 50% with the 2024 drilling program. It is expected that the expected daily production increase will be 125 thousand cubic meters after the completion of the drilling program.
"DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL NATURAL GAS"
TBNG CEO Sinan Furat, who made statements about the studies, said, "Last night, we started burning gas in the field we previously discovered in Tekirdağ and actually entered the production phase. We will start delivering this domestic and national natural gas, which we have brought to our country by extracting it from 2,800 meters below the ground, to the industrialists in our region this week."
"CONTINUING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF TPAO"
In his statement, the CEO of the company, Sinan Furat, said, "We are currently in Köseilyas Neighborhood of Tekirdağ, where our company is carrying out drilling activities. This is the fourth well of our 2024 drilling program. We completed the drilling activities in Silivri and Tekirdağ with our first well, and put them into production. We aim to produce 50 thousand cubic meters daily in Köseilyas Neighborhood where we are currently located. Our drilling activities are about to end, and then we will move on to the testing phase and then to the production phase. In our country, significant breakthroughs have been made in the energy sector in the last 3 years, and with the support of our Presidency Investment Office and the financial resources we have obtained from abroad, we have put the natural gas we extract from underground into production as domestic and national natural gas. I would like to emphasize how important the issue of energy security is for our country, especially in this region. Our national pride TPAO is currently continuing their oil production in Gabar and natural gas production in the Black Sea. As private sector players, we continue to follow in the footsteps of TPAO. As a country, we are aware that we must produce our domestic and national energy with local resources, especially in energy."
"GETTING CLOSER TO OUR GOAL OF INCREASING PRODUCTION BY 50%"
CEO Furat continued his statement, saying, "Our drilling activities will continue in 2024, and our next goal will be our 5th well, which will also be in Tekirdağ. Actually, when you look at it, Tekirdağ has been a region where natural gas activities have been carried out for a long time. Currently, we have about 85 wells and we produce 250 thousand cubic meters of natural gas daily. At the same time, with the new drilling program, we are getting closer to our goal of increasing production by 50% day by day. We are already receiving support from our state officials and our ministry in terms of licenses in this sector. We want to increase our investments even more, our investment appetite is quite high, and our goal is to bring more financing from abroad to our country and turn this financing into domestic and national natural gas production. Hopefully, when we receive the necessary support from our state officials regarding licenses, we will continue with more investments, more drilling, and more well activities. This will, of course, reduce our annual energy costs of 50 billion dollars and our energy imports that we have to make from abroad. Our country has now reached a point where it meets nearly 10% of its needs in oil, especially in petroleum, as we have learned from the latest statements of our Minister. These figures were figures that we used to dream of before, but now they are happening. In natural gas, domestic production, which was not even 1% 3-4 years ago, has reached 3% in a very short time. As we understand from the statements of our Minister, this figure will increase even more by the end of the year. The leap that Turkey has made in domestic energy production in the energy sector certainly makes us very happy as sector players. Hopefully, these figures will increase even more in the future."
100% TURKISH ENGINEERS
In his statement, the company's Technical Manager Gürkan Karakaya said, "We started our drilling activities at the beginning of 2014, and with this well, we have completed our 4th well. The Thrace region has a high potential in terms of reservoir distribution and quality. Especially discovering the gas wells in the wells we dug this year is an important indicator of this high potential. We continue our exploration and production activities. With this well, we will start our drilling activities again next year with the technical work of our 100% Turkish engineers. With the wells we dug this year, we discovered a total of 300 million cubic meters of new reserves. As a company, we have produced approximately 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas so far. With these wells, we plan to increase production by 50% and deliver this production to industrialists. With this well, we have burned our gas, conducted our tests, and after the tests, we will lay our pipelines and meet the gas we found here with the industrialists within two weeks."
