Aysel Uzun, the CHP candidate, won the election held in the council to replace Hasbi Dede, the Mayor of Görele, who was arrested for harassment.
After the Ministry of Interior's decision to suspend Görele Mayor Hasbi Dede, who was arrested for "sexual harassment," a vice-presidency election was held in the Municipal Council.
AN INVESTIGATION HAD BEEN INITIATED FOR HARASSMENT
Görele Mayor Hasbi Dede was summoned to give a statement as part of the investigation initiated due to harassment. Dede's statement was taken by the public prosecutor's office. Dede, who was referred to the duty magistrate court with a request for arrest, was released under judicial control with a travel ban imposed.
ARRESTED AFTER THE APPEAL
After the prosecutor's appeal, Dede was summoned to the courthouse again for a statement. Upon arriving at the courthouse, Dede was arrested this time on the charge of 'sexual harassment by benefiting from the facilities provided by electronic communication tools against a child.' Following Dede's arrest, council member Hüseyin Çakıcı was appointed as the temporary mayor by the Görele District Governorate.
WON THE ELECTION IN THE FINAL ROUND
Today, an election was held in the Görele Municipal Council, consisting of 5 CHP, 4 AK Party, and 2 independent members, to determine the new mayor. In the election held under the chairmanship of temporary president Hüseyin Çakıcı, CHP member Aysel Uzun, independent candidate Fırat İmat who resigned from CHP, and AK Party member Nuray Çınar Kara competed. As none of the candidates secured the required majority in 3 rounds, the election went to the final round. In the final round, Aysel Uzun won the election.
