When the second phase of the Ordu Ring Road Project is completed, the distance between Ordu and Giresun will be reduced to 15 minutes. The project will ease city traffic, providing savings in fuel and time.
'Black Sea Coastal Road Project' is expected to reduce the travel time between Ordu and Giresun to 15 minutes upon the completion of the "Ordu Ring Road Second Phase," which is currently under construction. The project, which started in 2007 and had its foundation laid in 2012, is considered 'Turkey's most expensive ring road project.' The first phase, which is 11 kilometers long, was completed and opened to service in 2019, and work continues on the second phase of the Ordu Ring Road. The second phase of the Ordu Ring Road Project, which has a total length of 21.4 kilometers, includes 6 tunnels, 11 double bridges, 5 single bridges, and 7 different level junctions. The last segment of the 440-meter-long double-tubed Akçatepe-1 Tunnel was removed in 2022, while work continues on the Akçatepe-2 Tunnel.
TRAVEL TIME BETWEEN ORDU AND GİRESUN WILL BE REDUCED TO 15 MINUTES
Despite the opening of the first phase, the road significantly alleviates traffic in Ordu and reduces vehicle density within the city. The project, which accelerates transit passages, will reduce the travel distance between Ordu and Giresun, currently taking 40-45 minutes, to as little as 15 minutes with the completion of the second phase.
THERE ARE CONNECTION POINTS TO THE UNDER-CONSTRUCTION ORDU CITY HOSPITAL
The road, which connects to the Ordu City Hospital, currently under rapid construction with Ordu University, will facilitate transportation, save time and fuel, and ease the traffic flow in the city.
"A GREAT SERVICE FOR THE BLACK SEA REGION"
Ilhan Karaağaç, the Muhtar of Altınordu Eskipazar Neighborhood, stated, "Currently, there is one tunnel to be opened and 3-4 bridges left. As long as our government sends funding, this will be completed. Work is ongoing. Ordu's history will change because when this road opens, the travel time to Giresun will be reduced to 15 minutes, and the travel time to Trabzon will decrease from 3 hours to 2 hours. This will be very economical for long-distance drivers and citizens. It is a great service for the Black Sea Region. Since the airport is also nearby, it will be actively used," he said.
"IT WAS A SWAMP BEFORE, NOW IT'S LIKE PARIS"
Muhtar Karaağaç pointed out that the first point of the ring road was previously idle, saying, "This area was idle and a swamp before; even jackals wouldn't come out. But now it has become like Paris. May God bless those who bring such services and our government. As services come, everything becomes more beautiful and valuable," he stated.
"TRAVEL TIME WILL BE SIGNIFICANTLY SHORTENED"
Cengiz Atmaca, a resident of the Akçatepe area where the second phase of the ring road passes, stated, "Travel time will be significantly shortened, and the city will be much more comfortable. Vehicles that do not have business in Ordu will use this road. Tunnels are being constructed, but it has taken a bit long. There are currently ongoing works, but it would be better if the pace were a bit faster," he expressed.
