(22), who was taken into custody, stated in his first statement at the police station that he threw the flare for entertainment purposes.

The fire broke out around 21:05 in the forested area of Çiğdem Neighborhood. Allegedly, unidentified individuals threw a flare into the area. With the fall of the flare, a fire broke out in the forested area. Upon notification, a large number of fire brigade, police, and municipal teams were dispatched to the scene. The fire was extinguished quickly before it could grow, thanks to the intervention of the fire brigade. Approximately 200 square meters of area was damaged, while police teams launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.

It was learned that in his first statement at the police station, the suspect said he threw the flare for entertainment purposes and reported the fire in the forest to the fire brigade afterward. The suspect, whose procedures at the police station are ongoing, is expected to be referred to the courthouse tomorrow.
