In the Bodrum district of Muğla, Erkan Sekmen, who went into a fit of rage, set fire to a supermarket where his brother and his brother's family were present. One person lost their life in the incident, while five others were injured. It has been reported that Erkan Sekmen, who was seriously injured, is still in critical condition.
The incident occurred at a market operating on Cumhuriyet Street during the night. Erkan Sekmen (47) arrived at the market run by his brother, with whom he had a feud, carrying a gasoline can. After arguing with his brother Hakan Sekmen (49), Erkan Sekmen poured the gasoline and set the place on fire, causing an explosion in the market. In the incident, Erkan Sekmen, Hakan Sekmen, and Hakan Sekmen's sons Y.E.S. (23), Y.H.S. (15), his ex-wife Ö.Ş., and an employee S.U. (24) were injured.
HAKAN SEKMEN COULD NOT BE SAVED
Following the notification, 112 Emergency Health, fire brigade, and police teams arrived at the scene. While Erkan Sekmen was taken to American Hospital, the other injured were transferred to Bodrum State Hospital. Hakan Sekmen, a father of two, suffered burns over a large part of his body and could not be saved despite all interventions.
It was learned that Erkan Sekmen, who was seriously injured, continued to be in critical condition. An investigation has been initiated regarding the incident. Meanwhile, local residents stated that there had been frequent fights between the two brothers before.
