Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç spoke about Özgür Özel's allegations regarding Murat Kapki, who is in custody in the İBB investigation, and AK Party lawyer Mücahit Birinci. Yılmaz stated, "Özgür Özel is pursuing the perception that 'there is a stock market in the judiciary.' This is a conversation between a suspect within the scope of the investigation and a lawyer. What does this have to do with the judiciary or the prosecutor?"
The claims made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, alleging that Murat Kapki, who is detained in the İBB investigation, was pressured by AK Party lawyer Mücahit Birinci to give a statement targeting Ekrem İmamoğlu and Murat Ongun, and that 2 million dollars were demanded, have caused a significant stir in politics. Following Özel's allegations, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç broke his silence.
ÖZEL'S CLAIM THAT WILL CREATE AGENDA
In his speech, Özel stated, "This is a lawyer friend who is in collusion with the AK Toroslar gang, who goes to the detained businessman Murat Kapki in the İBB investigation. Murat Kapki is one of the owners of a very large company that did a lot of business when İBB was under the AK Party, and has also done business with various public institutions. He has been forced into becoming an informant multiple times, has given statements of effective remorse, but he is someone who has been kept inside because he did not give the statement that was requested from him, and did not provide false testimony.
'THEY SAID, "YOU WILL SIGN THIS, AND YOU WILL ALSO GIVE 2 MILLION DOLLARS"'
A friend named Mücahit Birinci, who has held many positions including being a member of the AK Party's MKYK, goes to this person. This friend talks to Kapki on July 31 and puts a 1.5-page statement document in front of him, saying, 'You will sign this. You will also give 2 million dollars on top of that. You will leave here walking out...' He asks him to name various individuals and to relate these to the events. With a multitude of allegations, it is such a statement that is extraordinarily risky, insulting to journalists, making a move related to the CHP's long-standing failures with their congress, establishing the slander against Fatih Keleş that they have never been able to carry out, and touching on Ekrem President and Murat Ongun, and he says it will be in exchange for giving 2 million dollars. 'Sign this statement, give the 2 million dollars and leave, I will be your hand and foot in the media, your guarantee,' he says."
MINISTER TUNÇ'S RESPONSE
Following these allegations, Justice Minister Tunç stated, "In the appendix of the petition that the CHP submitted to the HSK, there is a conversation between a lawyer and his client within the scope of the investigation. What does this conversation say? 'If you behave like this, I will work for your release at this point.' Who says this? It is a conversation between a suspect in the investigation and a lawyer. What does this have to do with the judiciary or the prosecutor? If the prosecutor said to bring his client on this date, if he said let's take his statement, there is no question of blaming the judiciary members or the prosecutors. Of course, this will be examined in detail by the HSK. He insulted the HSK members and criticized the election method of the HSK members. Our judiciary members have been insulted. The CHP has recently turned into a veritable center of falsehood production, perhaps due to the confusion within them. Özgür Özel is chasing the perception that 'there is a stock market in the judiciary.'"
