"WE HAD NO PEACE LEFT WHEN SHE REFUSED TO SELL THE HOUSE"
The statement of Hüseyin Derin, who killed his wife, has emerged. In his statement, Derin stated that he had a large amount of debt and wanted to sell the house, which was in his wife's name, to get rid of his debts, saying, "However, Burcu did not accept. Despite me telling her many times, she always rejected it. For this reason, we had no peace left at home. We started to live in the same house but in separate rooms. On the day of the incident, I went to her workplace after drinking alcohol to talk again. There, I told her for the last time, 'I can no longer go out in public because of my debts. Let me sell the house and pay off the debts.' When she still did not accept, I lost control and took out my gun and shot her," he was reported to have said. Derin was arrested by the court he was brought to after being sent to the courthouse.
"I DON'T REMEMBER HOW MANY SHOTS I FIRED"
After the investigation, an indictment was prepared against Hüseyin Derin for the crime of intentionally killing his wife with premeditation, seeking aggravated life imprisonment. Derin's trial began today at the Nazilli 2nd High Criminal Court. The defendant Derin attended the hearing via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS) from Kütahya Type T Closed Prison, where he was detained. The couple's sons A.O.D. and T.D. and other relatives took their places in the courtroom. In his statement during the hearing, Derin stated that he was under the influence of alcohol on the day of the incident, saying, "I went to her workplace to talk to her. I saw her talking and laughing with a man. At that moment, I lost my senses. I approached her from behind. I only remember shooting her in the stomach. I don't remember how many shots I fired."
In his statement, Derin also mentioned that he had been in debt for a long time due to gambling, saying, "I didn't even have money to buy cigarettes. I asked my wife to sell the house to pay off the debts, but she did not accept. I could not accept her desire for divorce. I found the solution in killing her." During the hearing, the message records accepted by the defendant Derin were read. In the messages, it was seen that Burcu Derin complained to her husband about financial difficulties. The defendant Hüseyin Derin requested the examination of the messages and stated that he did not kill her with premeditation.
"MY MOTHER WAS ALWAYS UNHAPPY"
Speaking in court, Derin's younger son A.O.D. stated that his mother constantly argued with his father due to her gambling and debts, saying, "My father would come home after drinking alcohol. He had pulled a gun on my mother twice before. My mother was always unhappy. I am complaining about my father."
"I REMEMBER HIM THREATENING MY MOTHER BY SAYING 'I WILL KILL YOU IF YOU DIVORCE'"
Derin's older son T.D. stated that gambling and violence had existed in their family since childhood, saying, "My father used to physically abuse my mother. My mother never showed any violence or insult towards my father. I remember him threatening my mother by saying, 'I will kill you if you divorce.' I am complaining about my father." In response to his children's statements, Derin reacted by saying, "Don't lie. Don't lie in the sight of God, don't misrepresent."
"HE FIRED TWO SHOTS AT HER HEART"
On the day of the incident, F.E., who came to the bridal shop as a customer, was also heard as a witness in the hearing. F.E. stated, "Hüseyin Derin grabbed Burcu Derin by the throat, forced her into the shop by pressing the gun to her heart. Burcu was begging. Hüseyin Derin fired two shots at her heart. Then he put the magazine on the table and sat on the couch."
THE HEARING WAS ADJOURNED
The defendant Demir's lawyer claimed that the incident was a sudden explosion under the pressure of alcohol and debt, rejecting the allegations of premeditation and monstrous feelings. The lawyer of Burcu Derin's family argued that the murder was committed with premeditation and monstrous feelings based on the witness statements, asserting that the defendant had consumed alcohol to gain courage.
After listening to the parties, the court decided to continue the detention of the defendant Demir and to examine the reports in the file, and adjourned the hearing.
