A second statement has been issued by the rectorate regarding the allegation that a staff member at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University improperly registered students and committed forgery in documents. In the statement, detailed responses were provided to the allegations, and it was noted that the personnel in question was not a staff member.

It has been reported that S.G., who works as a janitor at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ) Ezine Vocational School, has been suspended due to allegations of registering himself as a student and committing irregularities in the system; the details of the scandal have emerged.

As part of the investigation initiated by the ÇOMÜ Rectorate, it was stated that it is being researched whether there are similar cases, and that the process will be transparently announced to the public. It was also learned that the university administration has filed a criminal complaint with the Çanakkale Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

SECOND STATEMENT FROM THE RECTORATE

Details regarding the scandal have emerged. In the second statement made by the rectorate to clarify the issue, it was stated, "Our university has not allowed any delays, cover-up attempts, or administrative negligence in the emergence or investigation of the allegations. The process is being conducted within the framework of the principles of transparency, accountability, and adherence to the law, and is continuing in coordination with the Council of Higher Education."

NOT A JANITOR

In the statement that said, "Some of the allegations in the news do not reflect the truth," the following expressions were used: "That is to say: the administrative personnel defined as 'janitor' in the news is working in the position of 'Computer Operator' at our university. The relevant personnel has access rights to our university's Information Management System (ÜBYS), and the claim that he 'secretly entered' the system is false. The allegation that the relevant personnel was promoted with a 'fake score of 100' and appointed as 'Financial Affairs Coordinator' is completely unfounded.

The score the personnel received from the promotion exam was 68, and no grade changes have been made. Additionally, there is no unit under the name 'Financial Affairs Coordination' within our university. The document presented as a diploma in the news is not a diploma but a certificate of appreciation issued due to the contributions of the relevant personnel to our university's quality assurance processes. The document in question was signed by the then-Rector Prof. Dr. Sedat Murat. The claim that inspectors from the Information Technologies and Communications Authority seized data from our university's information management system also does not reflect the truth."

"WE WILL CONTINUE TO DISPLAY AN EQUAL AND DETERMINED ATTITUDE"

The statement concluded with the following sentences: "Our university has initiated all necessary administrative and judicial processes regarding the allegations; precautionary measures have been taken to suspend the relevant individuals from their duties, and the matter has been referred to the judicial authorities. The news in question contains statements that have no relation to reality, aimed at defaming our university, and are inconsistent with the principles of objective and impartial journalism. Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University will continue to display an equal and determined attitude towards all its personnel in line with the understanding of the rule of law, justice, and institutional responsibility, just as it did yesterday and does today with the goal of being a pioneer in science."
