A retired non-commissioned officer in Gölcük district of Kocaeli killed his cancer-stricken wife and committed suicide with the same gun. It was learned that the woman had returned home from the hospital the day before, where she was receiving cancer treatment, and that her relationship with her husband was very good.
The incident occurred this morning on Cumhuriyet Street in Değirmendere Merkez Mahallesi, in a 5-story building on the 3rd floor. According to the information obtained, retired non-commissioned officer Erdoğan Canbazoğlu (71) first shot his cancer patient wife Dursine Canbazoğlu (67), and then shot himself with a pistol. Neighbors who heard the sound informed the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the notification, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. Health teams arrived at the scene quickly and while transporting the couple to the hospital, they could not be saved and lost their lives.

A.L., who has been the couple's neighbor for many years, said, "I heard Dursine Lady say 'Don't do it, don't do it' three times early in the morning. We thought the door was broken, but it turned out that the sound was a gunshot. When the police and ambulances arrived, we learned the truth about the incident. We couldn't believe it. Dursine Lady had cancer and had been receiving treatment for 4 months. She had a bowel obstruction and had surgery in 4 places, she just came back from the hospital yesterday. They were both very good neighbors, decent families. We couldn't believe it. We have been very good neighbors for a long time," he said.
