In the Kocasinan district of Kayseri, a rockfall at the high-speed train construction site resulted in the death of one person and injuries to another. Governor Gökmen Çiçek, who conducted investigations at the scene, stated, "It is not a collapse; it directly hit the head as a result of a rockfall."
Rocks fell on the high-speed train construction site where 7 people were working in the Karakimse area of Kocasinan district in Kayseri.
1 WORKER DIED, 1 WORKER INJURED
While 5 of the workers escaped without injury, 1 worker died and another was injured when the rocks hit them.
INJURED WORKER TAKEN TO HOSPITAL
Upon notification, health teams, law enforcement, and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene. After the initial intervention by the health teams, the injured worker was taken to the hospital by ambulance, while Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek also went to the scene to conduct investigations.
GOVERNOR ÇİÇEK: NOT A COLLAPSE, A ROCK FALL
In a statement regarding the incident, Governor Gökmen Çiçek said, "During the shift work of our 7 workers, it was not a collapse, but rather the falling of rock pieces from above. While 5 of our workers noticed the incident and escaped, unfortunately, one of our citizens died as a result of being directly hit on the head. Another friend was injured. He has 2-3 fractures in his legs and has been taken to the hospital. As I said, it is not a collapse, but a rock fall that directly hit his head. His son is here, and his nephews are here. Fortunately, the other 5 brothers were not injured at all. 1 friend is injured, with fractures in his legs. Unfortunately, we lost one of our citizens."
"OUR INJURED CITIZEN IS NOT IN LIFE-THREATENING CONDITION"
We anticipate that our injured citizen is currently not in a life-threatening condition. Because we know that he only has 1-2 fractures in his legs. As long as nothing serious comes up in the hospital, we know that he is not in a life-threatening condition. There is an excavator inside. It happened at the moment the machine was about to stop working, as far as we know. Our condolences. Upon receiving information that there were people under the rubble, AFAD immediately responded. However, when we arrived, the citizen's initial account was that there was 1 dead and the other was injured, and that there was no one under the rubble. Our condolences," he said.
