The 21-year-old TikTok star succumbed to colon cancer after her doctor told her earlier this month that she only had weeks to live.

People magazine confirmed the death of the New Zealand social media phenomenon. McShain had revealed a year ago that she was diagnosed with untreatable colorectal cancer last April.

In a heartbreaking Instagram post to her fans on April 6, McShain stated that she would no longer be sharing content as she approached the end of her life.

"I want to tell you all directly: This will be my last post about my cancer journey until I die," she wrote. "About five days ago, I was diagnosed with only a few days to a few weeks left to live."

McShain, who noted that her liver was "failing rapidly" and that this had caused the spread of her cancer, expressed that it was no longer possible for her to receive treatments, including chemotherapy, which she had been undergoing for the past seven months.

"At this point, having spent a lot of time in both hospitals and palliative care centers, I have transitioned to end-of-life care, focusing on pain management and managing side effects," McShain shared.

The TikTok user said that although her life was short, she felt she truly enjoyed "every moment" of it.

"I have won the lottery with a family that loves me unconditionally, friends who are eager to donate their livers (and probably argue about who will donate), and the sweetest husband in the world, Sean, who has always been by my side before and after the diagnosis," McShain wrote.

The social media star got engaged to her boyfriend Sean Suson on her 21st birthday in May 2024, months after her cancer diagnosis. The couple married in July of the same year.

In her April 6 post, McShain wrote, "Of course, there are so many important adult moments that I will not be able to experience, things I will not be or have, and that is something I have to accept."

"Grieving the things I will miss is no longer overwhelming. I have found a sense of acceptance lately."

The TikTok user told her fans that all the bad news she received from doctors last year had "desensitized" her to pain, but it also gave her the opportunity to "accept" the situation.

"I often imagine Heaven lately - a place where I will finally be free from the pain that has been with me for so long. I imagine myself without constant pain, without needing medication just to get through the day," she wrote.

"A place where I can run, breathe, and feel everything. Although it hurts to leave you all behind, please know that I will eventually be free from pain and find peace."

McShain concluded her post by expressing her gratitude to her loved ones and followers.

The 21-year-old content creator had gained over 200,000 followers across social media by highlighting the symptoms she experienced during her battle with colon cancer.
