The General Directorate of Mint and Stamp Printing has prepared a specially designed 5 lira commemorative coin for the 36th NATO Leaders Summit held in Ankara on July 7-8.
The coin, produced for circulation, will be released to keep the memory of the summit alive.
ITS DESIGN FEATURES NATO AND THE PRESIDENTIAL COMPLEX
The front of the bimetallic 5 lira commemorative coin bears the NATO logo, the date and location of the summit, and a graphic image of the Presidential Complex. The reverse features the current design of the standard 5 lira coin in circulation.
100,000 UNITS MINTED IN THE FIRST PHASE
The Mint produced 100,000 commemorative coins in the initial phase. With plans to mint an additional 400,000 units during the summit, total production is targeted to reach 500,000 coins.
CAN ALSO BE USED IN DAILY LIFE
The commemorative coin can be used not only for collection purposes but also in daily shopping. The initiative aims both to keep the memory of the 36th NATO Leaders Summit hosted by Turkey alive and to provide citizens with a specially designed coin in circulation.
TURKEY HOSTS THE CRITICAL SUMMIT
The first official summit of NATO leaders was held in 1957 in Paris, the capital of France. The NATO Leaders Summit is taking place on July 7-8 at the Presidential Complex in Ankara.
As Turkey continues to contribute to international security and cooperation through its strategic location and diplomatic initiatives, it is hosting the heads of state and government of NATO member countries during the summit.
