CHP Chairman Özgür Özel announced that CHP Yüreğir Mayor Ali Demirçalı was invited to the AK Party by President Erdoğan. In his statement, Demirçalı confirmed that he had met with Erdoğan.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated that after President Erdoğan offered a CHP mayor to switch to the AK Party, it was revealed that the person in question was CHP Yüreğir Mayor Ali Demirçalı.

CONFIRMED BY ÖZEL

Demirçalı, who answered questions related to the issue, confirmed what CHP Chairman Özgür Özel mentioned in the press conference, stating that the meeting took place last week.

"I WILL CONTINUE TO DO POLITICS IN CHP"

Demirçalı said, "I thought a general discussion about Adana would take place. Our President welcomed us with courtesy. I informed the Headquarters and our esteemed Chairman before and after the meeting. I will meet whenever our President wants."

When reminded of the news about being invited to the AK Party, Demirçalı stated, "I am at home in CHP. I will continue to do politics in the Republican People's Party."

WHAT HAPPENED?

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel announced today that a CHP district mayor was called to the Presidential Complex by President Erdoğan, expressing that he was invited to the AK Party.

Özel stated that the mayor informed him when he was called and after the meeting, saying, "I couldn't believe my eyes. 'I have a congress in February, will you join us?' How can the head of state, a party's own child, ask a mayor, 'Will you join me at my congress? I will open the way for you, I will do this, I will do that...' And then, in parentheses, 'I know you are a clean man, that's why I am calling you, but they might tarnish your reputation, God forbid,' and making threats like that. And then picking them up in a civilian car and taking them to the palace. Does that suit anyone? The one doing that there is making this happen here. Here is the picture of exhaustion, Tayyip Erdoğan," he had stated.
