Three Palestinians trying to escape the massacre in Gaza embarked on an unprecedented journey. After a 12-hour trip on a jet ski, the three friends managed to evade the patrols chasing them. At times, they consulted ChatGPT, and at other times, they hid from the police on the mainland. By the end of a story that lasted over a year, even European officials were astonished.
31-year-old Palestinian Muhammed Ebu Dakha, who wanted to escape from Gaza, where Israel has been continuing its massacres since October 7, 2023, managed to reach Europe. This struggle, lasting over a year, was filled with significant material losses and dangers.
HE STARTED HIS JOURNEY FROM EGYPT
In April 2024, Ebu Dakha crossed into Egypt from the Rafah Border Gate by paying 5,000 dollars, hoping to go to China to apply for asylum. However, when his plans in China did not work out, he had to return to Egypt by following routes through Malaysia and Indonesia.
DANGEROUS PREPARATIONS IN LIBYA
Ebu Dakha made a much riskier decision this time and went to Libya. There, he bought a second-hand jet ski online and spent 1,500 dollars on safety equipment such as a GPS device, satellite phone, and life jackets for his journey. These preparations marked the beginning of their attempts to cross the Mediterranean.

Together with his two friends, 27-year-old Diaa and 23-year-old Bassem, Ebu Dakha embarked on a sea journey that lasted about 12 hours, managing to evade patrol boats off the coast of Tunisia. They also towed another boat carrying supplies with them.

Although they used ChatGPT to calculate how much fuel they would need, the group's fuel ran out about 20 kilometers from Italy's Lampedusa Island. After this, the three friends called for help and were rescued by a Romanian patrol boat.

The European Union Border Agency described the journey of the three Palestinians as "an extraordinary event." Filippo Ungaro, spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Italy, stated, "It is an unprecedented event for them to arrive this way."
THEY ESCAPED FROM THE BUS AND WENT TO GERMANY
After arriving in Italy, the trio took a ferry to Sicily and then reached Genoa. However, their journey here was not without issues; they escaped from the carrier bus and hid in the bushes for several hours. Later, they flew from Genoa to Brussels and then crossed into Germany.
