The son of the AK Party Elazığ Provincial Chairman Şerafettin Yıldırım, Mustafa Seccad Yıldırım, was featured in a video taken while using drugs. Yıldırım stated that the footage was circulated to demand money from him, claiming "My son owes us." Following these images, AK Party Elazığ Provincial Chairman Şerafettin Yıldırım resigned from his position as Provincial Chairman.
WILL HOLD A PRESS CONFERENCE
In his statement, Yıldırım said, "With the approval of our President and General Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, I have resigned from my position as the AK Party Elazığ Provincial Chairman, which I have held for 6 years, and I am handing over my trust today. The location and time of the press conference we will organize to make statements regarding this matter, to have a conversation, and to reconcile with you, our esteemed members of the press, will be announced later," he said.
