In Manisa, neighborhood headman Ekrem Hayri Türk was attacked by a stray donkey he was trying to catch because it was damaging grape displays. The headman was wounded 5 times in the leg.
An incident that would rival movie scripts took place in the rural Akçapınar neighborhood of Turgutlu district in Manisa. The neighborhood headman, Ekrem Hayri Türk, who wanted to protect the grapes that villagers had left to dry with great effort, was attacked by a stray donkey and injured in the leg.
ANGRY DONKEY SHOWED NO MERCY TO THE HEADMAN
Acting on a report received around 5:00 PM yesterday, Headman Türk learned that a stray donkey was raiding the grape drying racks that producers had spread across the pasture. Türk, who went to the pasture to remove the donkey, which the residents were afraid to approach, and to bring it under control, suddenly became the target of the enraged animal.
BITTEN WHILE TRYING TO CATCH IT
The headman, bitten in 5 different places on his leg by the stray donkey he was trying to catch, did not give up despite the scuffle. Türk, who managed to bring the animal under control after a great struggle, tied the donkey to the back of his electric bicycle and took it to his own farm.
5 STITCHES ON HIS LEG
Following the incident, Ekrem Hayri Türk, who felt pain in his leg, was taken to Turgutlu State Hospital. The headman, whose wounds were stitched with 5 stitches, was also given rabies vaccinations as a precaution. After his treatment was completed, Türk was discharged and, as his health improved, wasted no time in returning to his duties.

The headman's son, Hüseyin Türk, who recounted the unusual event, stated that his father was injured in the name of protecting the villagers' labor:
"My father received a call regarding the pasture area where our producers dry their grapes. He was told that a stray donkey was scattering the drying racks and asked for help. Since no one dared to approach it, my father went alone. While trying to catch it, the donkey bit my father's leg. Despite this, my father managed to catch the animal, brought it to our farm, and tied it up. We reported the situation to the Farmers' Property Protection team and are waiting for them to come and take it. My father's treatment has been done, and he is currently at his post."
