In Antalya, a tenant who refused to accept the landlord's exorbitant rent increase went into a rage in front of lawyers, threatening to set his wife and young daughter on fire. The situation was calmed down as a result of the efforts of the fire department and police teams to persuade him.
In Antalya, it is claimed that a tenant who refused to accept the landlord's exorbitant rent increase and received an eviction order from the court went into a frenzy when he saw his lawyers. The individual, who threatened to burn down the house where his wife and young daughter were, was difficultly persuaded by fire and police teams.
The incident occurred around 11:30 AM on the ground floor of an apartment building on Hamidiye Street in the Yıldız neighborhood of the Muratpaşa district. Allegedly, the landlord obtained an eviction order through the court against Salih Kırgın, with whom he had a disagreement over the rent. In the morning, the lawyers arrived at the residence to enforce the eviction order. Medine Kırgın, Salih Kırgın's wife, opened the door for the lawyers who were preparing to enter the residence with a locksmith after being unable to reach the family by phone.
POLICE PERSUADED
Medine Kırgın told the lawyers to wait for her husband. Shortly after, Salih Kırgın arrived and, enraged by the eviction order, threatened to burn himself, his wife, and their young daughter. Upon the lawyers' notification, fire and police teams were dispatched to the address. Kırgın, after more than an hour of persuasion efforts by the teams, agreed to abandon his actions in exchange for a promise to help them. Kırgın first handed over his baby to the police teams.
"I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN FIND A SOLUTION"
Kırgın, stating that he regularly paid his rent but that the landlord wanted to increase the rent from 11,000 TL to 16,000 TL and that they were in court because he did not accept this, said, "Landlords should think a little about the poor and the needy. I have become a refugee in my own country. What can I do? I have a 5-month-old child, they are throwing us out, what will I do? Right now, I am looking for a place to go, I don't know if I can find a solution. Does this house make 16,000?"
Mediha Kırgın, stating that the requested rent amount was not justified, said, "Since we arrived, we have been having problems with the landlord. He said he would make renovations, but he didn't. The condition of the house is not worth 16,000 TL. He is insisting on 16,000 from us." The family, who gathered their belongings, evacuated the residence as per the court order.
