DEPORTATION OF TURKISH JOURNALIST FROM EGYPT
While many activists from different countries were expected to join the convoy upon reaching Egypt, the attitude of the Cairo administration prevented this situation. Journalist Furkan Çalışkan, who set out from Kocaeli to join the convoy, was detained by Egyptian security forces at Cairo Airport.
Çalışkan shared on his social media account, "We are being deported at Cairo Airport. Soldiers attacked us. We were kept waiting for 5 hours without eating anything." Criticizing the harsh attitude of the Egyptian soldiers, Çalışkan stated, "We were treated as enemies in this land we came to for peace. There was no difference from Israeli soldiers."
