The Vancouver Police Department made a statement regarding the incident on the X social media platform. The statement indicated that a driver drove into the crowd at the street festival of the Filipino community around 8:00 PM local time, resulting in fatalities and injuries.

The statement mentioned that the driver has been taken into custody, but no detailed information was provided regarding the number of deceased and injured. Meanwhile, social media footage shows at least 7 injured individuals on the ground.
MAYOR: I AM IN SHOCK OVER THE INCIDENT
Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim stated in a post on the X platform, "I am in shock and deep sadness over the horrific incident that occurred during today's Lapu Lapu Day event."
Sim also added, "Our thoughts are with everyone affected during this incredibly difficult time and with the Filipino community in Vancouver."
DRIVER TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
