U.S. President Donald Trump issued a warning to his rivals in response to the question, "Are you concerned about an escalation beyond the trade war?" Trump, stating "We are very strong," replied, "We have weapons that nobody knows about, and our weapons are the most powerful in the world, even stronger than anyone else's, not even close, so nobody is going to do that."

Trump answered questions from reporters about the agenda after the signing ceremony of presidential decrees in the Oval Office last night.

Describing Chinese President Xi Jinping as a "smart man," Trump stated that they would eventually make a very good deal, saying, "Xi is a man who knows exactly what needs to be done, loves his country, and I think he will want to make a deal. I believe this will happen. At some point, we will get a phone call, and everything will be ready."

"WE HAVE WEAPONS THAT NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT"

In response to a journalist's question, "Are you concerned about an escalation beyond the trade war?" Trump replied, "We are very strong. This country is very strong. Stronger than people understand. We have weapons that nobody knows about, and our weapons are the strongest in the world, even stronger than anyone else's, not even close, so nobody is going to do that."

The U.S. President stated during the same meeting that they decided to pause the 90-day tariffs spontaneously, commenting, "I didn't know that the pause in customs tariffs would be so effective in the markets. The markets had a great day today."

Trump expressed that he would have a phone conversation with Chinese President Xi at some point, stating that he likes and respects his counterpart but argued that they have not treated the U.S. well. Trump reiterated that they are ready to make customs and trade agreements with everyone, including China, if it is fair.

125% TARIFF ON CHINA

U.S. President Trump announced yesterday on his TruthSocial account that he has raised the customs tariff on products originating from China to 125%, effective immediately.

In his statement, Trump said, "I hope China soon realizes that the period of exploiting the U.S. and other countries is no longer acceptable."

Noting that representatives from over 75 countries have called to negotiate a solution regarding customs tariffs, Trump explained that he paused additional tariffs for 90 days as a goodwill gesture to these countries that did not retaliate against the U.S., and during this period, the minimum mutual tariff rate would be applied at 10%.
