Santosh Lohar, a railway worker laying tracks in the Bihar state of India, was bitten by a venomous snake while he was asleep. Upon waking up, Lohar immediately caught the snake with an iron rod, and according to local belief, he killed the snake by biting it three times to neutralize the venom. However, it is known that biting the snake does not render the venom ineffective, but rather increases the risk of further bites. The species of snake that bit Santosh and whether it was venomous or not has not been confirmed yet.

A man named Santosh Lohar was bitten by a venomous snake while sleeping in a worker camp in the Bihar state of India. As soon as he woke up, he caught the snake with an iron rod and killed it by biting it three times.

RENDERED INEFFECTIVE BY BITING THE SNAKE

35-year-old Santosh was part of a team laying railway tracks in a forested area and said that his reaction was based on a belief common in his village: "In my village, it is believed that if a snake bites you, you have to bite it twice to render its venom ineffective." However, it is known that biting the snake will not render the venom ineffective, but rather increase the risk of further bites.

THE SPECIES OF THE SNAKE IS YET TO BE DETERMINED

The species of the snake that bit Santosh and whether it is venomous or not has not been confirmed yet. There are around 300 snake species in India, and more than 60 of them are venomous. Bihar is one of the three states with the highest death rate due to snake bites, with approximately 4,500 deaths occurring each year. Santosh received anti-venom treatment and was discharged from the hospital the next day.

This incident occurred after a woman in Indonesia, who was swallowed by a python, was found by her husband when he saw her legs sticking out of the snake's mouth. Sirati, a mother of five, was attacked by a 30-meter snake while she was visiting her sister to go to the market. Her husband, Adiansya, found the swollen snake by following the traces and noticed that his wife's legs were sticking out of the snake's mouth.
