President of the Communications Directorate Burhanettin Duran announced that access to 41 social media accounts that spread disinformation and provocative content has been restricted, and 75 pieces of content have been removed from digital platforms.

Duran stated in a statement on his social account that it has been determined that there is an intense disinformation and psychological operation activity targeting Turkey on digital platforms following the recent developments in the region.

Emphasizing that it has been observed that some social media accounts have been making systematic posts aimed at creating fear, panic, and insecurity in society through unverified content since the very first moment the attacks against Iran began, Duran noted the following:

"LEGAL PROCEEDINGS HAVE BEEN INITIATED REGARDING OTHER ACCOUNTS UNDER INVESTIGATION"

"The relevant institutions of our state have closely monitored this process from the very beginning, and necessary steps have been taken decisively against digital manipulation attempts targeting public order, social peace, and our national security. In this context, as a result of the efforts carried out in coordination with the Presidency of the Communications Directorate, the Cyber Crime Department of the General Directorate of Security, the Information Technologies and Communications Authority, and our Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, access to 41 social media accounts (X, Facebook, and Instagram) targeting the internal front with disinformation and provocative content has been restricted. 75 pieces of content have been removed from digital platforms. Legal proceedings have been initiated regarding these accounts, which have been identified as conducting psychological operations with criminal content, as well as other accounts under investigation."

Duran emphasized that Turkey sees the digital realm as an inseparable part of national security and fights against attempts to manipulate public opinion within the framework of law and with determination, stating, "As our esteemed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan frequently emphasizes, Turkey has the will and capacity to protect its national security both in the field and in the digital realm. All institutions of our state act with this understanding, taking necessary measures against any attempts targeting the peace of our nation, information security, and social solidarity."
