Greek farmers decided to close roads and border gates for 48 hours, stating that no concrete steps have been taken regarding their demands. Actions will be carried out especially at customs gates.

Farmers across Greece, citing a lack of concrete steps towards their demands, have decided to close roads and border gates for 48 hours.

BORDER GATES WILL BE CLOSED FOR 48 HOURS

According to the decision made after a meeting held in the Malgara region near Thessaloniki with the participation of farmer representatives from across the country, farmers will intensify their actions at some key road points on Thursday and Friday. Farmer representatives also announced that the border gates will be closed for truck crossings for 48 hours.

ACTIONS WILL CONTINUE IF NO SOLUTION IS FOUND

Kostas Celas, President of the Federation of United Farmers' Associations of Karditsa, stated in a press conference that if the government produces a solution by Thursday and Friday, a real dialogue environment could be created; otherwise, the actions will continue.

ACTIONS HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT A MONTH

Due to the farmers' protests that have been ongoing for about a month across Greece, intercity highways, airports, and border gates are occasionally being closed. Farmers are demanding the payment of delayed support payments due to allegations of corruption in state incentives and the implementation of regulations that will reduce high production costs.
