Fenerbahçe Vice President Acun Ilıcalı stated that he expressed some grievances regarding the league during his meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Ilıcalı said, "I had expressed some grievances to President Erdoğan about the league. He told me, 'You will build such a team that, if necessary, you will defeat them as well. Is there an obstacle? You will overcome that too.' Now, I completely agree with the President."
Fenerbahçe Vice President Acun Ilıcalı made statements on various topics, including Fenerbahçe's signing and transfer agenda, during a broadcast he participated in on Ekol TV. Ilıcalı also mentioned a piece of advice given to him by President Erdoğan, stating that Erdoğan said, "You will build such a squad that you will also defeat the referee."
"YOU WILL DEFEAT HIM TOO"
Ilıcalı said, "I had the opportunity to have a one-on-one conversation with our esteemed President in October. There were three of us, in fact. I had expressed some grievances to President Erdoğan regarding the league. He told me, 'You will build such a team that, if necessary, you will defeat him too. Is there an obstacle? You will defeat him too.' I now fully agree with the President. That was a time when we were wronged. We have reached a good point economically with Fenerbahçe, and we will elevate the squad even further this year. There are brave individuals who will spend that money for Fenerbahçe. We will take the squad even higher this year." he stated.
"I DO NOT FIND THE SIGNATURE COLLECTION APPROPRIATE"
Regarding the signatures collected for the Extraordinary Election planned for September to be held earlier, Ilıcalı commented, "I respect it. Collecting signatures is a democratic right," and added, "But I do not think it is right to go this way."
Acun Ilıcalı said, "I watch what we are experiencing with astonishment. Recently, we are living with about 15 slanders a day, thinking that the more slanders we throw, the more interaction we will get as the Fenerbahçe management, starting with our president. This is normal in Turkey. But after bringing everything he wanted, what were we supposed to do? The responsibility is ours, and I accept that too. People need to put their hands on their conscience a bit. They will ask, 'What were we supposed to do that we didn't do?'" he continued.
"I THINK THERE IS A STRUCTURE"
Continuing his remarks, Ilıcalı stated, "I think there is a structure in football. But after foreign referees came, I said that this outrage has decreased. Extraordinary things have always happened. I do not think there are external factors in the period after foreign referees came. A very obvious difference occurred in the second half of the league. After foreign VAR came, there are no offside controversies." he said.
