Following the Israeli army's intervention on the Madleen ship, a statement made by German citizen Yasemin Acar during her travels has come back to the agenda. In the interview, Acar stated that Israel enjoys a privilege of impunity and that it could attack the ship in a way that she and the other activists on board would be powerless to do anything about.
The Israeli army intervened in the Madleen ship, which was on its way to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and had 12 human rights activist on board. It was reported that contact with the ship was lost after the raid, and the ship was pulled to the Ashdod port. The ship has reportedly reached Israel's Ashdod Port.
12 ACTIVISTS WERE TAKEN TO BEN GURION AIRPORT
According to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a total of 12 activists, including Swedish Greta Thunberg, Turkish-German Yasemin Acar, and Hüseyin Şuayb Ordu from Turkey, were taken to Ben Gurion Airport for deportation.
ACAR'S WORDS HAVE BECOME AGENDA AGAIN
Following Israel's intervention in the Madleen ship, an interview given by Yasemin Acar during the journey has come back to the agenda.
EMPHASIZED THE PRIVILEGE OF IMPUNITY
Acar stated in an interview with Press TV that Israel has the privilege of impunity and that it could attack the ship in a way that neither she nor the other activists on board could do anything about.
"NO ACCOUNTABILITY HAS BEEN DEMANDED SINCE THE MAVI MARMARA INCIDENT"
Acar said, "When we were attacked, there was nothing we could do. But the real question that needs to be asked is; Why are they attacking us? Why has genocide been committed against people for 19 months? These are the questions that need to be asked. After the Mavi Marmara attack in 2010, where 10 people lost their lives, no accountability was demanded, and no investigation was initiated. And in most cases, Israel escapes by investigating its own crimes. What we are witnessing right now is this.
"NOT EVEN A CONDEMNATION HAS COME FROM THE EUROPEAN UNION"
The attack on Vicdan four weeks ago is another example of the impunity that Israel possesses. No accountability was demanded, nor did a condemnation come from the European Union. And most importantly, no investigation was initiated," she stated.
