Following his detention as part of the betting investigation, football commentator and former referee Ahmet Çakar, who fell ill and was hospitalized, has been discharged after receiving treatment at Istanbul Training and Research Hospital.
"Football betting" investigation, football commentator and former referee Ahmet Çakar, who was detained, was recently taken to Istanbul Training and Research Hospital after falling ill.
DISCHARGED
Çakar, who underwent angiography here, was discharged after the treatments performed. Meanwhile, the detention order against Ahmet Çakar was lifted due to his health condition, and the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office instructed the police to prepare Çakar for court appearance based on his health status after his treatment.
INVESTIGATION PROCESS
As part of the "football betting" investigation, 35 of the 46 suspects, including football players, club executives, and referees, who were issued detention orders, were detained.
In a statement from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that as part of the second phase of the investigations known to the public as "Football Betting Investigations," data obtained from the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) and legal betting sites, open-source research, and analysis studies conducted regarding 101 football players who received a penalty of deprivation of rights in the Professional Football Disciplinary Board's (PFDK) meeting on November 13, along with other evidence, revealed suspicious financial transactions after examining bank accounts. A detention order was issued for 7 individuals, including former Adana Demirspor Sports Club president Murat Sancak, former football referee and currently sports commentator Ahmet Çakar and his wife, as well as top-tier referee Zorbay Küçük.
