A fire broke out for an unknown reason at a chemical factory operating in Kırıkkale Organized Industrial Zone. The factory, engulfed in flames, was reduced to ashes. While firefighting efforts were ongoing, a second fire was reported in the same area. Another factory producing energy panels was also consumed by the flames. Teams are responding to both the chemical factory and the energy panel factory.
A fire broke out for an unknown reason at a chemical factory producing lubricants in the Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) located in the Yahşiyan district of Kırıkkale. Upon notification, a large number of police, gendarmerie, health, and fire teams were dispatched to the area. While the fire teams were intervening in the fire, a second fire broke out in the same area.
SMOKE COVERED THE CITY Black smoke rising into the sky from the factory engulfed in flames was visible from kilometers away. The factory that was ablaze was almost reduced to ashes.
"WE HAVE NO LOSS OF LIFE" Kırıkkale Governor Mehmet Makas stated in a press conference at the scene, "I wish our Kırıkkale, our OSB, and our citizens a speedy recovery. We are trying to coordinate the fire at Bahadır Kimya today. It is a factory where 70 of our citizens work. Thank God, we have no loss of life." he said.
Makas noted that necessary evacuation procedures were carried out as the fire broke out, and added:
"With reinforcements from our neighboring provinces, TÜPRAŞ, and Makine Kimya, it was initially brought under control, but it is still continuing its severity. Following the instructions of our Minister of Interior, the Emergency Management Center established by AFAD is also intervening in the incident. 26 vehicles coming from Ankara are also intervening in the fire. The cause of the fire is still unknown. We will share this with you after the necessary investigations are completed. Thank God, the fire will be extinguished before it spreads; that is our goal and plan. We have 66 factories here. There is a more compact arrangement of factories in the OSBs. This is an old OSB, and we hope to extinguish the fire without it spreading to other factories. We are continuing with our police, gendarmerie, AFAD, and all Kırıkkale fire departments, along with reinforcements from Çankırı, Ankara, Çorum, and Kırşehir. All our business people in the region are contributing; they are supplying water with their tankers, and we hope to extinguish it as soon as possible. I reiterate, we have no loss of life, thank God. We hope to conclude the incident without any loss of life."
ANOTHER FIRE BROKE OUT While the teams were intervening in the fire at the chemical factory, another fire broke out for an unknown reason at a factory producing energy panels in the same OSB.
Some of the teams intervening in the fire at the chemical factory were redirected to intervene in the fire at the other factory.
