The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality proposed to increase the grave site fee for 2024 from 17,904 lira to 53,712 lira, representing a 200% increase. Requests for price hikes were also made in various areas such as parking lots and social facilities.
The proposal prepared by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) commissions requested that the cemetery plot fee, which is 17,904 lira in the new year, be increased by 200% to 53,712 lira.
PROPOSAL FOR A 200% INCREASE IN CEMETERY PLOT FEES IN ISTANBUL
The Tariff Commission and the Transportation and Traffic Commission completed their work on proposals that foresee increases in various items such as cemeteries, parking lots, social facilities, zoning files, and police work, which were referred to the commissions during the IMM Council's October meeting.
In the proposals prepared by the commissions, which are expected to be discussed at tomorrow's IMM Council meeting, a 200% increase was requested for some items related to cemetery fees and service charges in 2026.
IF ACCEPTED, IT WILL EXCEED 53 THOUSAND LIRA
In this context, it was requested that the cemetery plot fee, which is 17,904 lira in the first group including Karacaahmet, Nakkaştepe, Çengelköy 1st Section, Zincirlikuyu, Aşiyan, Nafibaba, Ulus, and Abide-i Hürriyet, be increased by 200% to 53,712 lira.
The fee for the empty space next to the funeral was proposed to be increased from 55,824 lira to 167,472 lira, the fee for an empty cemetery plot from 111,632 lira to 334,896 lira, and the fee for a child funeral plot from 17,904 lira to 53,712 lira.
REQUEST FOR 500 THOUSAND LIRA FOR SPRING WATER USAGE FEE
The spring water usage fee was requested to be increased from 61,600 lira to 500,000 lira. In the proposals, a 10% increase was suggested for zoning-related map processing fees, a 20% increase for construction direction survey fees, a 33% increase for address management chief fees, a 40% increase for fees related to obtaining building usage permits, and a 100% increase for file review fees.
The temporary authorization fee for passenger transportation with luxury vehicles was requested to be increased from 245,248 lira to 500,000 lira, and the temporary vehicle permit fee for passenger transportation with luxury vehicles was requested to be increased from 6,656 lira to 20,000 lira.
PERMITS FOR SERVICE ROUTE USAGE DOCUMENTS
It was also requested that the route usage permit documents for student transportation services for higher education institutions, free transportation services (service for transporting its own personnel), tourism transportation services, and free transportation services (social events group service) be increased from 614 lira to 10,000 lira.
A 40% increase was requested for tree pruning and cutting fees, a 50% increase for the transfer fees of market workplaces, and an increase of up to 27% for food prices in social facilities. The removal of glass graphic type advertising promotional elements by the police was proposed to be increased from 120 lira to 2,000 lira, the removal of vinyl type advertising and promotional elements from 75 lira to 500 lira, and the removal of illuminated and non-illuminated signs and boards from 390 lira to 1,500 lira.
REQUEST FOR A 33.3% INCREASE IN PARKING FEES
The proposals also included the increased tariff for parking lots operated by the IMM subsidiary ISPARK. In the increase proposal, within the scope of the Sustainable Urban Transportation Plan, it was suggested that the parking fee for vehicles in closed and open parking lots in the Fatih/Historical Peninsula and Kadıköy/Dock areas be increased from 150 lira to 200 lira for up to 1 hour, from 180 lira to 240 lira for 1-2 hours, from 220 lira to 300 lira for 2-4 hours, from 275 lira to 380 lira for 4-8 hours, from 350 lira to 450 lira for 8-12 hours, and from 500 lira to 550 lira for 12-24 hours.
