The lawyer of Ahmet Minguzzi's family, who was stabbed to death in the market in Kadıköy, Rezan Epözdemir, and his wife received death threats. The messages demanded that Epözdemir withdraw from the case and that the murder be presented as self-defense. Epözdemir stated, "I will legally pursue this to the end. These threats and pressures cannot intimidate or scare us."
14-year-old Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi was stabbed to death at a market in Kadıköy on January 24. Following the murder, two suspects under the age of 18 were arrested. While the Minguzzi family was repeatedly threatened by the relatives of the suspects, Minguzzi's grave was vandalized before the first hearing held a few days ago. The Minguzzi family's lawyer, Rezan Epözdemir, announced that he and his wife received threatening messages.
"THESE THREATS AND PRESSURES CANNOT SCARE US"
Epözdemir stated, "These are the messages that came to my and my wife's phones after the program 'I Just Spoke,' which aired last night and we attended with Yasemin Minguzzi. Since the name of the relevant group may have been used in a misleading way, I legally disregarded it. Afterwards, my wife and I were also called via video. I reported the matter to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Police. I also applied to the governor's office for necessary precautions to be taken. I hope the necessary actions will be taken. I will legally follow this matter to the end. These threats and pressures cannot intimidate or scare us. Our legal struggle for the punishment of the murderers of Ahmet Minguzzi will continue until the end."
"YOUR CHEST WILL BE STABBED, A BULLET WILL COME TO YOUR HEAD"
The threatening messages sent to Epözdemir and his wife included the following statements: "Keep making such posts. One day your stomach will be stabbed, a bullet will come to your head, etc. Be careful. Withdraw from this case. Live a good life with your wife... You will get our brother B.B. released. We sent a message to his family. They will withdraw their complaints. You will also frame the incident as self-defense. Don't ask us here and there. Everyone knows our name and who we are, and what we can do to you."
