All football matches scheduled to be played today in Tehran, the capital of Iran, have been postponed due to air pollution. Iranian state television reported that the Tehran Province Football Federation's Health Committee issued a written statement confirming the postponement of all football matches.
The football matches have been suspended due to air pollution affecting Tehran, the capital of Iran with a population of 8.5 million.
ALL FOOTBALL MATCHES POSTPONED
Iran's state television published a written statement from the Health Committee of the Tehran Province Football Federation regarding the issue. The statement indicated that all football matches planned for today have been postponed due to the rising levels of air pollution in Tehran. As part of the decision, it was stated that all football activities are banned on Wednesday, December 24, and that training sessions will also not be allowed.
AIR POLLUTION AT 149 MICROGRAMS
According to measurements made by the Air Quality Measurement Company, air pollution in Tehran was measured at 149 micrograms per cubic meter today. The values determined according to particulate matter (PM10) in the air quality index are as follows:
"0-50 'clean air' (green), 51-100 'moderate' (yellow), 101-150 'sensitive' (orange), 151-200 'unhealthy' (red), 201-300 'bad' (purple), 301-500 'dangerous' (brown)"
