AIR STRIKE FROM ISRAEL TO LEBANON
The Israeli army once again violated the ceasefire by conducting more than 10 airstrikes on towns in southern and eastern Lebanon. According to a report by the Lebanese news agency NNA, the Israeli army targeted the cities of Nabatiye, Sidon, Marjayoun, and Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon, as well as Baalbek in the Bekaa region to the east. It was reported that some of the intense attacks carried out by Israeli warplanes targeted quarries and cement factories.
Israeli warplanes conducted an airstrike targeting an area between the towns of Rumin and Humin in Nabatiye. An Israeli drone carried out an attack in the Ali et-Tahir area located in the northern parts of the town of Fevka. Israeli warplanes conducted two airstrikes on the town of Benaful in Sidon and one airstrike in the Herbe Duveyr area between the towns of Sarafand and Baysariye.
Meanwhile, an Israeli drone targeted the road between the towns of Sharkiye and Kusriye es-Sayyad with a guided missile; as a result of the attack, a large crater formed on the road. In Marjayoun, an Israeli drone attacked the town of Blida while the public was busy with olive harvesting. An Israeli drone also carried out an attack on the town of Deyr Antar in the Bint Jbeil region. Israeli warplanes also conducted airstrikes around the town of Shemstar in the Baalbek region.
QUARRY ALSO HIT
The Israeli army claimed in a statement that it targeted Hezbollah and the Lebanese environmental organization Green Without Borders (GWB). It was noted that a quarry used by Hezbollah for cement production in southern Lebanon, which was destroyed in the Israeli attacks, was among the targeted locations for reconstruction purposes. It was also stated that the facilities belonging to GWB that were targeted were used for reconstruction.
It claimed to have raided underground terrorist facilities belonging to Hezbollah used for storing weapons in the Bekaa Valley (east) and southern Lebanon.
STATEMENT FROM THE LEBANESE PRESIDENT
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun made a statement regarding the airstrike carried out by Israel in southern Lebanon. Aoun stated that Israel targeted "civilian facilities" and reported that it violated the ceasefire reached last year. Aoun said, "Israel's repeated attacks are part of a systematic policy to destroy infrastructure under false security pretexts, hinder economic recovery, and weaken national stability." The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that 6 people were injured in the attacks.
ISRAEL HAD ALSO STRUCK LEBANON IN OCTOBER
In October 2023, Israel launched an attack on Lebanon, which escalated into a large-scale war in September 2024. In this war, more than 4,000 people lost their lives, approximately 17,000 were injured, and 19 were arrested.
Despite a ceasefire agreement reached between Hezbollah and Israel in November 2024, it was reported that Israel violated the agreement more than 4,500 times, resulting in the deaths and injuries of hundreds of civilians.
Israel also continues to occupy five Lebanese peaks it captured in the last war, while maintaining its presence in some areas it has held for decades.
