After Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu switched to the AK Party, a new claim has emerged. According to the allegation, Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal and two district mayors are set to resign from the CHP and join the AK Party.

The Mayor of Afyonkarahisar, Burcu Köksal, along with the Mayor of Dinar, Veysel Topçu, and the Mayor of Evciler, Berrin Uğurlu, are alleged to be resigning from the CHP and joining the AK Party.

Political circles have been stirred by an allegation regarding the CHP. According to the claim, three mayors from the CHP will switch to the AK Party.

CLAIM: BURCU KÖKSAL AND TWO MAYORS WILL JOIN THE AK PARTY

According to claims in the local press, Burcu Köksal, the CHP Mayor of Afyonkarahisar, has reportedly presented her declaration of joining the AK Party to President Erdoğan through intermediaries while making contacts in Ankara.

As reported by Kocatepe Newspaper, it is alleged that, in addition to Köksal, Dinar Mayor Veysel Topçu and Evciler Mayor Berrin Uğurlu have also applied to resign from the CHP and join the AK Party.

If these transitions occur, the number of CHP mayors in Afyonkarahisar will decrease to three, namely Başmakçı, Yeşilçiftlik, and Karaadilli.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

The badge of Özlem Çerçioğlu, the Mayor of Aydın Metropolitan Municipality who resigned from the CHP and joined the AK Party, was presented during a ceremony held in Ankara on August 14. In addition to Çerçioğlu, Aydın Söke Mayor Mustafa İberya Arıkan, Yenipazar Mayor Malik Ercan, and Aydın Sultanhisar Mayor Osman Yıldırımkaya also joined the AK Party.
