"IT MAY HAVE BEEN DONE TO INVOLVE TURKEY IN THE WAR"
AK Party Gaziantep Member of Parliament and NATO Parliamentary Assembly Member Ali Şahin was a guest of presenter Melis Yaşar on Haberler.com. Speaking about the munitions that were neutralized in Turkish airspace, Şahin said, "Normally, a war was planned that would result in the end of the regime within a week. Perhaps global actors were also prepared accordingly, but the war has taken on a regional dimension.
In this case, the munitions directed towards Turkish airspace could also be a product of the planning to include new actors to regain control over a war that has gone out of control," he said.
"WE MUST PURSUE THE INTENTION OF THE FIRED MISSILES"
Şahin also stated, "Could there be a thought of provoking Turkey, which is a member of NATO, to drag NATO into this? However, this will not be an easy process. NATO's taking such action is contingent upon certain conditions. One of these conditions is the approval of all NATO member countries.
Within NATO countries, opinions regarding the war are complex and inconsistent. Germany also announced yesterday that it would not be part of this war. Turkey has already declared that it is not and will not be part of this war.
The missile attempts aimed at making both Turkey and NATO part of this war do not seem likely to succeed. As Turkey, we need to pursue the intention of the fired missiles, not the points where the missiles were fired," he stated.
