AK Party's number 2 figure, Elitaş, revealed for the first time: We also took notes because they were taking notes. It was something we were not accustomed to.

AK Party Deputy Chairman Mustafa Elitaş, who accompanied President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and CHP Chairman Özgür Özel during their mutual visits, revealed new details about the meeting between the two leaders.

"WE TOOK NOTES BECAUSE THEY DID"

Mustafa Elitaş, who was part of the AK Party delegation during the meeting between the two leaders, made a noteworthy statement about the meeting. Elitaş said, "We had productive meetings with the CHP. Notes were taken during those meetings. I don't know why they took notes. We took notes because they did. We wrote down every single detail. It was something we were not used to. Notes are usually taken in diplomatic affairs. I have participated in many political meetings but notes were never taken. In such meetings, if there is an agreement, it is either documented or the information shared there is conveyed; "This is how we think, this is how we act." However, distorting the words spoken and presenting them with different interpretations is not a proper practice according to the rules."

THE PRESIDENTIAL PALACE OR THE PARTY HEADQUARTERS?

Elitaş mentioned that before the meeting between the leaders, alternatives were offered to the CHP for the meeting place. Elitaş said, "The leaders of two political parties are meeting. But it is also a meeting of the country's President. In fact, our President could have given an appointment at the Presidential Palace. Our President conveyed it to us and we asked them; "Do you want the Presidential Palace, Çankaya Mansion, or the Party Headquarters? The choice is yours." Özgür Özel thanked us a lot. He preferred the Party Headquarters," Elitaş said.

THE "EMPTY SEAT" DETAIL THAT CONFUSED PEOPLE

After the meeting between Erdoğan and Özel, the empty seat in the room drew attention and many allegations were made about it. Elitaş put an end to the discussion by saying, "When President Erdoğan met with Mr. Devlet Bahçeli, there was another chair, and the same chair was present during the meeting with Mr. Özgür Özel. So, there is no difference between President Erdoğan accepting someone in the AK Party, at the Presidential Palace, Çankaya Mansion, or any other place. This does not diminish his position as the President. When the CHP hosted the meeting, they placed the chairs side by side, and we have nothing to say about that. Because the host said so. They also welcomed President Erdoğan with courtesy. We thank them for their hospitality. They prepared everything beautifully. It was a nice reception," he said.

"VOTERS APPROVE THE MEETING BETWEEN CHP AND AK PARTY"

After the Local Elections on March 31, a wind of reconciliation started to blow in politics. Elitaş expressed that this is what the people long for and said that there is a response from the voters to this situation. He stated, "A large majority of AK Party voters view the meeting between the CHP and AK Party very positively. A research company brought the results recently; MHP voters also view the meetings between Mr. Bahçeli and Mr. Özgür Özel very positively. Interestingly, CHP voters view it less positively. I don't know exactly why, they can evaluate that themselves. As a political party governing the country, our biggest duty, regardless of who it is, is to carry out this task diligently and skillfully," he said.

"ÖZGÜR ÖZEL WAS UNDER THE BOMB ON JULY 15"

Elitaş drew attention to the events of July 15, 2016, and said, "On the night of July 15, we invited all our MPs to Ankara. Around 85 AK Party MPs came. I was in Kayseri. We met with the Speaker of the Parliament. We said, "Let's open the Parliament." I spoke with the CHP's deputy chairmen Özgür Özel, Engin Altay, and Levent Gök from Kayseri. I invited them to the Parliament. They said, "We are coming." They came, and Özgür Özel, who was under the bomb that day, was the one who felt in his soul that it was a coup attempt. But Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu watched the coup on TV sitting in front of the television at the house of the Mayor of Bakırköy. On July 15, Mr. Özgür Özel was at the podium in the Parliament. In fact, he spoke at the podium wearing one of our friend's jackets," Elitaş explained what Özgür Özel did that night.
