AK Party Secretary General Inan: Build the Karşıyaka Stadium, let us be the first to applaud.

31.03.2026 02:20

AK Party Secretary General and İzmir Deputy Eyyüp Kadir İnan made a clear call to local governments regarding the long-delayed Karşıyaka Stadium during his speech at the İzmir Education Investments Mass Opening Ceremony. İnan said, "Since you are so confident; come on then, let's see! Immediately construct the Karşıyaka Stadium, bring that stadium to the people of Kafsinkaf, and let us be the first to congratulate you! We will come out and applaud wholeheartedly. But I regret to say that they cannot do it."

AK Party Secretary General and İzmir Deputy Eyyüp Kadir İnan, in his speech at the İzmir Education Investments Mass Opening Ceremony, explained both the major educational investments and directed harsh criticisms at the opposition.

"THIS OPENING IS THE OPENING OF REAL INVESTMENTS. IT DOES NOT RESEMBLE FAKE OPENINGS THAT A FRIEND WILL COME AND DO TOMORROW."

İnan stated, "These are not faucet openings. These are real investments. Tomorrow a friend will come to İzmir. He will make fake openings. Our genuine openings do not resemble their fake openings. We are building our schools, but you see the state of this school entrance. We are making major investments, but they cannot even get this road to the school," he said.

“WE OPENED 20 SCHOOLS WITH AN INVESTMENT OF 1 BILLION 178 MILLION TL”

İnan highlighted the scale of educational investments made in İzmir between 2023-2026, announcing that a total of 20 schools have been completed with an investment exceeding 1 billion 178 million TL. Additionally, he emphasized that 108 new schools and 2,361 classrooms have been added to İzmir, 59 schools are under construction, and 53 schools are in the tender stage.

Listing the schools built in Bornova, Karabağlar, and Konak one by one, İnan emphasized that each investment represents the future of a neighborhood:

"Here in Bornova;

  • Mevlana (Tevfik İleri) Secondary School – 109 Million 184 Thousand TL
  • Altındağ Neighborhood Primary School – 63 Million 319 Thousand TL
  • Evka-4 Martyr Hüseyin Cankaya Secondary School – 10 Million 352 Thousand TL
  • Erzene Neighborhood Mehmet Akif Ersoy Kindergarten – 38 Million 173 Thousand TL
  • Erzene Neighborhood Mevlana Kindergarten – 20 Million 880 Thousand TL
  • Ergene Neighborhood Kindergarten – 20 Million 880 Thousand TL
  • Erzene Neighborhood Kindergarten – 43 Million 392 Thousand TL

In Karabağlar;

  • Captain Şerafettin Primary School – 37 Million 200 Thousand TL
  • Eşrefpaşa Anatolian High School – 71 Million 186 Thousand TL
  • İzmir Anatolian High School – 137 Million 811 Thousand TL
  • Mustafa Baykaş Secondary School – 61 Million 66 Thousand TL
  • Nafi İyiler Secondary School – 146 Million 104 Thousand TL
  • Ahmet Elibolyalı Kindergarten – 18 Million 43 Thousand TL
  • İyiburnaz Primary and Secondary School – Total 155 Million TL

In Konak;

  • May 19 Primary and Secondary School – Total 67 Million 760 Thousand TL

  • Gültepe Martyr Halil Zilan Çelik Imam Hatip Secondary School – 74 Million 792 Thousand TL
  • Konak Imam Hatip Secondary School – 57 Million 296 Thousand TL

These are not faucet openings. These are real investments. Tomorrow a friend will come to İzmir. He will make fake openings. Our genuine openings do not resemble their fake openings. We are building our schools, but you see the state of this school entrance. We are making major investments, but they cannot even get this road to the school."

“THE CHILDREN OF DOĞANLAR, MEVLANA NEIGHBORHOOD, NALDÖKEN, AND ÇAMDİBİ DESERVE THE BEST OPPORTUNITIES!”

İnan stated in his speech that educational investments are not just about physical structures, saying, “As you can see; these investments are not just about numbers. Each one represents the future of a neighborhood, each one is a child's dream, each one is İzmir's tomorrow. We are conducting a major educational mobilization in this city that touches every district, every neighborhood, and every child. The children of Doğanlar, Mevlana Neighborhood, Naldöken, and Çamdibi. They all deserve the best opportunities! They all deserve the best opportunities. We rolled up our sleeves and are working so that the children of these neighborhoods receive education in solid, modern, technological schools. With the opening of our Tevfik İleri Secondary School today, 20 schools are the result of this understanding. Thanks to these investments, we have reduced class sizes to 24 students. All 7,648 special needs students in İzmir benefit from transportation services; there is not a single student waiting," he expressed.

İnan also stated that class sizes have been reduced to 24, and all 7,648 special needs students in İzmir have access to transportation services.

“THIS SUCCESS WAS ACHIEVED UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF OUR PRESIDENT RECEP TAYYIP ERDOĞAN”

İnan emphasized that the transformation in education has been realized thanks to political will, thanking President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Comparing educational data before and after 2002, İnan said, “Our government, as in every period, allocated the lion's share of the budget to education this year as well. This strong budget means more schools, more qualified classrooms, and a more equitable education system. Before 2002, the high school enrollment rate was below 50%, while today it has approached 90%; in primary and secondary education, it has exceeded 95%. This great change did not happen spontaneously! These massive works are the result of hard work and unwavering will. From here, on this proud day, I extend my heartfelt gratitude on behalf of all İzmir residents to our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Architect of the Century of Turkey, who has dedicated his life to this nation, prioritizes the cause of education above all else, and shows his love for İzmir with these massive investments at every opportunity," he said.

HARSH REACTION TO LOCAL GOVERNMENTS: THOSE WHO DO NOT ISSUE PERMITS WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE

İnan expressed that some municipalities in İzmir have delayed educational investments, directly criticizing Bornova Municipality. He pointed out that the permit processes are deliberately prolonged, particularly through the example of Kars Halil Atilla Primary School, causing students to suffer. İnan stated, “While we are conducting such a large educational mobilization in this city under the leadership of our President, I want to present the painful picture we encounter for your appreciation. While dozens of schools that İzmir Metropolitan Municipality has promised but not built are evident; now we are witnessing the intolerance of district municipalities towards education. For example, here is Kars Halil Atilla Primary School! The Bornova Mayor, who does not issue a school permit for this school, will be held accountable to all İzmir residents! They resisted not to issue the permit for that school; but our Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change immediately intervened and quickly issued that permit! I believe that our fellow citizens in Kazım Dirik Neighborhood and the people of Bornova will hold them accountable at the ballot box! I say openly from here: When it comes to education; we do not give anyone the right to slow down or obstruct the process. Whoever it may be, they must open the way for our educational investments! No one should be allowed to delay a child's access to the classroom or postpone a parent's hopes!" he said.

CLEAR MESSAGE ON THE FOUNDATION DEBATE: PROPERTY HAS BEEN RETURNED TO ITS ORIGINAL STATE AS REQUIRED BY FOUNDATION LAW

İnan also spoke about the recently debated foundation properties, emphasizing that the transactions made are completely legal.

The property is stated to be a foundation asset, legally registered in 2025, and the courts have approved the process, indicating that this is "not arbitrary, but a clear provision of the law": "We will not give opportunities to those who want to exhaust our energy and wear out our institutions. No one can target our institutions, the Green Crescent, through the foundation buildings that have been on the agenda lately. Look, Turkey is a rule of law. The property in question belongs to the Bayezid Baba Foundation, established before the Republic, and is an asset according to foundation law. This situation is clearly stated in the land registry and has been confirmed for years with a "foundation annotation." According to the law, the situation is very clear: properties that have been created through foundations and have passed into the ownership of public institutions must be immediately transferred to the original foundation. Indeed, the necessary procedures have been carried out in accordance with this provision, and the property has been legally registered in the name of the foundation in 2025. The transaction carried out today is the restitution of ownership as required by foundation law. The courts have also evaluated this process, rejected requests to suspend the eviction, and opened the way for the legal process. Therefore, what needs to be discussed here is not arbitrariness; it is the application of the clear provision of the law. In our society, in our tradition, the culture of foundations is deeply rooted. The tradition of foundations in Turkey has been one of the most important institutional structures that has strengthened social solidarity and carried spatial memory throughout history. We dedicate all our foundation works to the children and youth of Izmir. While local governments have left these historical buildings to decay and remain idle for years, we are restoring and bringing them back to Izmir! Here is the Tekel Culture Factory! Here is the Izmir Economic Congress Building that we have built in accordance with its original design!

“WE ARE WORKING TO RECLAIM THOSE WASTED YEARS”

Inan harshly criticized the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality by targeting infrastructure problems, Gulf pollution, and unfinished projects. He also described those opposing investments like the Izmir Port and the Cesme Project as "those who do not want Izmir to grow": What is it, my friend? "Izmir's rights should remain in Izmir." If Izmir's property has remained in Izmir, it has remained thanks to us. We prevented you from handing over Izmir's property to the foundations of Istanbul. Who are you to claim Izmir's rights? Just look up and see that unbearable Gulf smell that has not been resolved for years! Look at the roads that turn into lakes with every rain, the collapsed infrastructure, and the abandoned back neighborhoods! Did you leave Izmir's rights to Izmir, or did you waste them? We are working to reclaim those wasted years! We are taking huge steps to modernize Izmir Port, freeing it from its old, cumbersome structure, and making it one of the most efficient and competitive ports in the Mediterranean. We are working day and night for the massive Cesme Project that will not only elevate Izmir in trade but also open new employment doors for tens of thousands of our youth! We know that the greatest support for our visionary projects will come from our fellow citizens of Izmir. But as we try to make Izmir a global brand, some people are standing guard at the courthouse doors to obstruct these investments. I openly declare: Those who oppose the development of Izmir, the growth of Izmir Port, and investments like the Cesme Project that will broaden the horizons of this city out of mere political envy and ideological blindness can never be considered Izmirians in our eyes!

Because to be a true Izmirian means wanting this city to grow, prosper, and compete with the world! It is not about shackling this city with ideological chains. Izmir is also a university city. We want to transport our university students all over Izmir, transforming this city into a center of science and youth from top to bottom. But we are faced with a metropolitan administration that has built all its facilities and systems on inefficiency and dysfunction! We initially approached these issues with goodwill and gave them credibility. We said, "They were elected for Izmir, let's set aside politics and produce for Izmir." However, the hand we extended for the benefit of Izmir has turned into a show of power against their internal rivals! Unfortunately, we realized this too late. Because they have no concern for Izmir or its future, believe me, they never did! Can you imagine? Those who could not bring a single act or even a nail to the great Izmir in two years are now coming out and revealing their inadequacy in front of the two historical buildings we have restored and brought back to this city!

“BRING IT ON: BUILD THE KARŞIYAKA STADIUM, LET US BE THE FIRST TO APPLAUD”

Eyyup Kadir Inan made a clear call to local governments regarding the long-unfinished Karşıyaka Stadium in Izmir. Inan used the following words for those who create discussions instead of producing concrete services: "Since you are so assertive; come on, bring it on! Immediately build the Karşıyaka Stadium, give that stadium to the Kafsinkaflı people, and let us be the first to congratulate you! Let us applaud you wholeheartedly. But I regret to say that they cannot do it. Those whose SGK debts are at the throat, who cannot escape the debt swamp, who cannot even pay the sweat and salaries of their own workers; today they think they can take advantage of the situation by attacking us. But those days are over! Izmir no longer believes you! Rest assured; you will be gone in the next election, and Izmir will finally receive the real service it deserves, that great vision! We will continue to speak through works, not obstacles, on the path drawn by our President.”
