New witness statements have emerged regarding Mehmet Akif Ersoy, who was arrested and sent to Silivri Prison as part of the "drug" investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. A witness who confessed to using drugs and participating in sexual parties with Ersoy claimed that they conducted checks with the siren-equipped vehicle used by Ersoy to avoid being caught by the police.

WITNESS STATEMENT THAT WILL MAKE NOISE

A witness who confessed to participating in drug and sexual relationship parties with Mehmet Akif Ersoy, whose hair samples tested positive for 'Cocaine and its metabolites' at the Forensic Medicine Institution, shared the method they used to avoid being caught by the police before house parties in their statement.

"HE CHECKED FOR POLICE WITH A LIGHTED VEHICLE"

According to a report in Sabah newspaper, the witness stated that the vehicle used by Ersoy had a light, saying, "He went ahead with that lighted vehicle to check if there were any police, and we followed him. Then we went to the house. Everyone was very drunk. Ahmet made me an offer again. I said I wouldn't repeat it, and he respected that. Akif went to the bedroom with the other girl. Ahmet passed out on the couch. In October 2023, Ahmet texted me that he missed me. I went to Ahmet's house. Ahmet used drugs that day as well," the witness stated.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Eight people, including former Habertürk Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy, were detained under the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the crimes of 'purchasing drugs or stimulants for personal use, accepting or possessing, or using drugs or stimulants, providing a place and means for their use'. At the moment the detention order was issued, Ersoy and three others were removed from their positions at Habertürk, and a detention order was issued against them. The decision made by the Istanbul 6th Criminal Court of Peace stated that Mehmet Akif Ersoy and three others were arrested on charges of "facilitating drug use" and "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime".

TEST RESULTS CAME BACK POSITIVE

The results of the tests conducted at the Forensic Medicine Institution on former Habertürk Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy and nine suspects arrested under the 'drug' investigation have emerged. The test results of seven individuals, including Ersoy, came back positive. According to the test results, 'Cocaine and its metabolites' were found in the hair samples taken from Mehmet Akif Ersoy, while no drugs were detected in the blood samples taken from him.
