The negotiations for the Group Collective Labor Agreement for the 2025-2027 period between Türk Metal and MESS ended in disagreement, leading to protests in the factories. At Turkey's automotive giant Tofaş, workers staged a protest in the cafeteria by banging forks and spoons together due to the failure to meet their demands for a raise and the lack of response to their requests for improvements.
At TOFAŞ, one of the largest industrial organizations in Bursa, employees began to protest due to the deadlock in collective bargaining negotiations.
THERE IS A GAP BETWEEN THE REQUESTED RAISE AND THE OFFER
According to the information obtained, the negotiations came to a halt after the Turkish Metal Workers' Union demanded a 20% raise and a 35 lira improvement, while the employer's union MESS offered a 5% raise and an 11.50 lira proposal. As no agreement could be reached between the parties, the workers carried out their first protests within the factory. The failure to reach a consensus in the collective bargaining negotiations conducted between the Turkish Metal Workers' Union and the employer's union MESS, covering the period of 2025-2027, brought about reactions in the factory.
THE FIRST PROTEST WAS HELD AT TOFAŞ
As part of the first protest, TOFAŞ employees expressed their reactions by banging cutlery in the cafeterias. During the protest, the determined and enthusiastic attitudes of the workers drew attention, while the employees, who voiced their demands with slogans and applause, stated that if the process continued in this way, the protests would increase.
