Following the terrorist attack in the Kashmir region last week, Pakistan and India have come to the brink of war. While clashes between the two countries have occasionally intensified, Pakistan announced that it has received intelligence indicating that India is planning an attack within 24 to 36 hours.
Rising tensions continue between Pakistan and India. Recently, Pakistan's Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, announced that they have intelligence information indicating that India is planning an attack within 24 to 36 hours.
In a statement on his social media account, Tarar said, "Pakistan has reliable intelligence that India is planning to launch a military attack within the next 24 to 36 hours, using the Pahalgam incident as a false pretext. Any act of aggression will be met with a decisive response. India will bear full responsibility for the serious consequences in the region," he stated.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The situation reignited on April 22 with a terrorist attack in the town of Pahalgam in India's Jammu and Kashmir region, which resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists. The attack was claimed by the Resistance Front, an offshoot of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba. While India accused Pakistan of supporting the attack, Pakistan denied these allegations, suggesting that the incident could be a "false flag operation."
DIPLOMATIC AND MILITARY DEVELOPMENTS
Following the attack, India expelled Pakistani diplomats, canceled visas issued to Pakistani citizens, and granted the army "operational freedom" in Jammu and Kashmir.
In response, Pakistan closed its airspace to Indian aircraft, expelled Indian diplomats, and suspended the Shimla Agreement.
Military activity continued with both countries amassing troops in border areas and an increase in mutual artillery fire. Pakistan announced that it had shot down an Indian drone.
