An 11-year-old girl was killed after being hit by a light commercial vehicle at a pedestrian crossing.

An accident occurred on Adnan Menderes Street in the Adapazarı district, where a light commercial vehicle hit Zühre Deniz Akdağ, who was trying to cross the road at a pedestrian crossing. While the driver fled, police and medical teams were dispatched to the area upon the notification of bystanders. After the first intervention by medical personnel, Zühre Deniz Akdağ was taken to Sakarya University Training and Research Hospital (SEAH), but unfortunately, she could not be saved. It was learned that Akdağ was a 6th-grade student, and her body was taken to the morgue of the same hospital. The accident was captured on security cameras.

Police teams identified the license plate of the light commercial vehicle that hit Zühre Deniz Akdağ as 54 HK 322 and the driver as Tuğrul D. It was reported that Tuğrul D., who was caught by the police, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and had attempted to flee after hitting a parked car on the same street before the accident.
