Farmer Arif Balcı, from the village of Mecidiye in the Kazımkarabekir district, went out to check his planted crops in the morning. When Balcı arrived at his corn fields, he was confronted with a shocking scene. The farmer, who detected that the corn fields had been attacked with pesticides by unidentified individuals using a drone, immediately reported the situation to the gendarmerie, the district agricultural directorate, and the agricultural chamber.
DAMAGE CAUSED BY DRONE SPRAYING
The gendarmerie, along with officials from the provincial and district agricultural directorates and the agricultural chamber, who came to the village to inspect the corn fields, confirmed that the corn had been damaged by drone spraying. This incident has also caused concern among other farmers, while the gendarmerie has initiated an investigation to identify the individuals responsible for the attack on the corn field.
"AN UNACCEPTABLE SITUATION"
Mehmet Bayram, the President of the Karaman Agricultural Chamber, who inspected the corn field that was damaged by the drone, stated, "We are facing a horrific situation in the corn field. We see that the efforts of our producer have been wasted. There is a suspicion of sabotage involving a drone in the corn field. The gendarmerie is conducting an investigation regarding this. The corn currently planted in the field is completely burned. It is a sad event because it is a national asset. Our producer is currently uprooting the corn to prevent the season from being wasted. 80% of the corn has burned. For it to grow properly, it needs to be completely uprooted and replanted. We wish our producer well."
"I SPENT 500 THOUSAND LIRA TO PLANT THE FIELD"
Farmer Arif Balcı stated that the attack was only on his corn field, saying, "Pesticides were sprayed on my 85-acre corn field with a drone. We have no enemies. I am currently uprooting all the corn that dried after the pesticide was sprayed using tractors. The gendarmerie, along with officials from the provincial and district agricultural directorates and the agricultural chamber, say that the fields have been sprayed with a drone. I spent 500 thousand lira to plant this field. Now I will plant again and spend another 500 thousand lira. Everyone says 'get well soon,' but what will happen to me now?" he said. - KARAMAN
