In Eskişehir, 64-year-old Celal Ağır is struggling to live alone in an abandoned house due to his disability. Despite his neighbors requesting help from the authorities for the elderly man, no results have been achieved.
TRYING TO LIVE IN AN ABANDONED HOUSE
Celal Ağır, who resides on Asuman Street in the Fevzi Çakmak neighborhood of Tepebaşı District, lost his balance and fell while buying bottled water a few months ago. Ağır was taken to the hospital by ambulance, where a disability occurred in his left foot. Currently, the elderly man, who is fighting to live alone in a dilapidated detached house with a roof that has collapsed inward, is unable to meet his own needs due to his disability.
Ağır, who is being supported by his neighbors and philanthropists, has requested help from the authorities for both his house and his treatment. On the other hand, it was claimed that his neighbors informed the authorities about Uncle Celal's situation, but no officials came.
"I CAN'T EVEN GO TO THE GROCER BECAUSE OF MY FOOT"
Celal Ağır, who stated that he worked as an electrician before retiring, said, "I have 5-6 siblings, but they are of no help. If you say 'there's money,' they come, but if you have no money, they don't. I have my pension, it was enough. When I was healthy, I could go wherever I wanted, both by walking and by bicycle. Right now, I can't walk, my house is in bad condition. Nowadays, I can't even go to the grocer. If my foot gets better and I can walk, I wouldn't need help. It would be good if the messy state of the house could be fixed. I also want to get treatment. I couldn't explain my troubles to anyone."
Moreover, Ağır stated that the windows of his house were broken several times by stones, and his television and electric motorcycle were stolen, but he couldn't do anything due to his disability.
