65-year-old Chonthirot, who lives in Thailand, was declared dead by his family and placed in a coffin. However, he woke up inside the coffin while it was being transported for cremation and knocked on the lid. Chonthirot was declared dead at his home in Phitsanulok, northern Thailand, and was sent to a temple that offers free cremation services for the poor.
An incredible event occurred in Thailand, shocking and frightening those who knew the elderly woman closely. 65-year-old Chonthirot was declared dead by her family, placed in a coffin, and sent on her way to be cremated. However, before reaching the temple, she woke up inside the coffin and began to knock on the lid.
Chonthirot was declared dead at her home in Phitsanulok, northern Thailand, on the morning of November 23. Believing she had passed away peacefully, her family placed her in a white coffin and embarked on a four-hour journey to a temple on the outskirts of Bangkok that offers free cremation services for the poor.
However, the "deceased" grandmother was reported to have moved inside the coffin, startling those around her by knocking on the lid. In the footage, Chonthirot can be seen wriggling inside the coffin, swatting away flies on her face while her family watches in disbelief.
Chonthirot's younger brother, 57-year-old Mongkol, said that his sister had been bedridden for two years and was found dead at 2 a.m. He even signed the documents confirming her death and handed them to the Buddhist monk who would conduct the funeral.
Mongkol described the moment:
"I was stunned; I was both very surprised and happy because my sister was still alive. I was almost fainting from shock. Her waking up was truly a miracle."
The temple official, 27-year-old Thammanoon, said he heard a faint knocking sound and a call for help from inside the coffin while preparing to carry it to the hall before the cremation.
"When I lifted the covering cloth and saw she was still moving, I was frozen. She was conscious, breathing weakly, and nodding her head, but she couldn't speak. I had never seen anything like this before; I was very surprised," he said.
After the incident, Chonthirot was taken to Bang Yai Hospital by ambulance. Temple officials announced they would cover her medical expenses. The temple abbot stated that he had never seen such an event in his life and expressed that the family was very happy to have been given a second chance.
A similar incident occurred in February in northeastern Thailand. 85-year-old Pua Sriphueng returned to life after being dead for 40 minutes. Her family saw her sitting with her eyes open while preparing for the funeral. It was later reported that Sriphueng exhibited childlike behavior, asked for candy, and participated in religious rituals she had not attended before.
