CHP members of parliament hung a banner reading 'FREE İMAMOĞLU' on the July 15 Martyrs Bridge. While the banner was being taken down by police teams, an investigation was initiated against the CHP members of parliament who hung the banner.

The banner reading 'FREE İMAMOĞLU' was hung by CHP Şanlıurfa Deputy Mahmut Tanal and CHP deputies Suat Özçağdaş, Ali Gökçek, İlhami Özcan Aygun, Ahmet Baran Yazgan, and Nimet Özdemir on the 15 July Martyrs Bridge in Istanbul.



BANNER REMOVED, LEGAL ACTION INITIATED



The banner was removed by the officials of the Bosphorus Bridges Protection Branch Directorate. An investigation has been launched against the CHP deputies.



In a statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the matter, it was stated, "On May 24, 2025, around 19:40, CHP deputies Mahmut TANAL, Suat ÖZÇAĞDAŞ, Ali GÖKÇEK, İlhami Özcan AYGUN, Ahmet Baran YAZGAN, and Nimet ÖZDEMİR were seen hanging a banner with the silhouette of Ekrem İmamoğlu and the words 'FREE İMAMOĞLU' on it, hanging over the bridge at the North Road Entrance of the 15 July Martyrs Bridge; the officials of the Bosphorus Bridges Protection Branch Directorate intervened in the incident and removed the banner, and legal proceedings have been initiated regarding the matter."
